Why so Cheap?
Rental companies frequently need to move and relocate campervans around the country.
This can be due to seasonal changes or because demand for vehicles is greater in different cities due to
festivals, sporting occasions or other events. Rather than pay for a driver to relocate a campervan, rental companies offer them to the travelling public at knock down
prices producing the perfect win-win outcome.
How it Works
- The Campervan Rental Relocation list is updated each day at between 8.30am-9.30am (Aus EST) for travel in the next 2-3 weeks. This is when the list is fresh and vehicles most likely to still be available. It's the best time to submit a relocation request as we are more than likely able to confirm your request. The relocations book quickly and therefore as the day progresses the availability becomes more limited.
- Select from the list of published deals below and complete the online booking request
- A member of the DriveNow Reservations team will contact you
- A holding fee will be charged to your credit card and applied to your finalised booking with any residual credited back to your card
- Australian mileage allowance for each rental is based on distance between pick-up and drop off location plus 550kms. Any kms travelled above this will be charged at AU$0.55/km
- In New Zealand mileage allowance for each rental is based on the Distance Chart listed in our FAQs and NZ Terms & Conditions. Excess kilometres will be charged at NZ$0.28/km
- Where applicable fuel costs will be reimbursed up to the stipulated value on completion of your rental. Retain Tax Invoices (Aus) and GST Receipts (NZ) to claim
- With DriveNow there are absolutely NO Booking fees and NO administration Charges. We believe in passing the full value of the deal through to you

What fees will I be charged?
DriveNow charges no booking fees. We receive a referral fee from our rental partners on each confirmed booking. In the event that you cancel a confirmed booking or fail to pick up the vehicle a
AU$50 cancellation fee is charged by the rental company. When will my booking be confirmed?
Once a DriveNow Reservations Team member has spoken with you we will contact the Campervan Supplier, confirm the booking and email through details to you. Please note the vehicle model booked or Booking may change prior to departure or be cancelled at the rental company's discretion, even on the day of travel. Can I book a relocation vehicle for pick up in 4 weeks' time?
All Campervan relocations are last minute and based on travel commencing in the next 2-3 weeks and therefore it is not possible to book beyond that time frame. How do I pay for the security deposit?
The security deposit of AU$1000 can be paid by Credit Card only. Cash and American Express are not accepted by THL. The Credit Card will be processed and credited back at the end of the rental providing the vehicle is returned on time, undamaged and with a full fuel tank and gas bottle. Can I reduce my liability on the standard Excess Insurance?
Yes. Options are available by paying a daily fee - please speak with Rental staff when picking up the vehicle. Can I hire the vehicle for extra days?
Each Campervan Relocation Deal will have a minimum and maximum number of days allocated to it. You Pay
AU$5 for each of the minimum number of days and can add in additional days at
AU$75 per day up to the maximum. How is the free kilometre allowance determined?
The number of free kilometres on each deal is the distance between the pickup and drop off location (refer to chart in Relocations Terms & Conditions) plus 550km. Any travel beyond that is charged at
AU$0.55 per km. For instance, Brisbane to Adelaide is 2056kms, including the added 550km, your free travel allowance would be 2606km. How do I receive payment for Fuel?
Ensure that you are given a Tax Invoice stating the amount and type of fuel when filling up. Reimbursement will be made up to the agreed value when dropping off your Campervan. Are there any allowances for Tasmanian Relocations?
Yes, if your relocation is to or from Tasmania receipts can also be claimed for one person on a standard ferry seat and airfare. Ensure that this is included on your rental agreement before departure and initialled by a THL staff member. What time do I need to drop the vehicle off at?
The late return fees are high. You must return the vehicle before 1500 hours (3.00pm) on the last day otherwise there is a late return fee of
AU$150 if returned between 3.00pm and 4.00pm and AFTER 4.00pm this late fee becomes AU$1000. - Australian Kilometre Allowances/Rental Days

Fees are charged if vehicles are returned in a dirty state. Smoking within Vehicles
All vehicles are smoke free and fees will be deducted from your vehicle security deposit for any smoking related cleaning Can I reduce my liability on the standard Excess Insurance?
Yes. Options are available by paying a daily fee - please speak with Rental staff when picking up the vehicle. Can I hire the vehicle for extra days?
Yes, however these are subject to availability and with a cap of 7 days in total for a vehicle relocation. Extra days are charged at current standard rates and need to be booked 24 hours before scheduled
drop off. Extension days come with unlimited kilometres. Are there Free Fuel allowances and How do I receive payment?
Where free fuel is provided you are required to retain GST receipts to claim
your fuel refund on returning your vehicle. Are there any allowances for Inter-Island Ferry Crossing?
Yes. A ferry booking must be made at the time of booking/pick up if the vehicle
is to cross between the North and South Islands. Where a free ferry is included,
thl reserve the right to choose an off peak sailing. Any amendments
to the ferry booking will be charged an amendment fee of NZ$25 per change. If
the customer fails to cross at their booked time, they will be required to
rebook and pay at their own cost with no refund available. If customer fails to
collect the relocation vehicle without prior notification to thl any
cancellation fees applicable to the ferry crossing will be charged to the
customer in addition to the cancellation fee applicable to the rental. thl will pay for the ferry crossing cost for the vehicle only. The
driver and passenger costs are the renters own. What time do I need to drop the vehicle off at?
The late return fees are high. You must return the vehicle on the last day before 1200pm (midday)
on same island relocations and by 1500 hours (3.00pm) on cross Island relocation
rentals. There is a late return fee of NZ$150 if returned between these drop off times and 4.00pm. After 4.00pm the late returrn charge rises to NZ$550. - New Zealand Distance/Rental Days
