Yes a bond is required when hiring a Star RV vehicle. Depending on whether the optional Star Pack is taken the bond applied to the hirer's credit card will vary between $7500 and $250.
Each Campervan operates a dual battery system, one to support the engine and the other for living accommodation. Depending on usage this battery will last for between 12 and 20 hours. Batteries will recharge when connected to mains power (recommended every 48 hours) or will trickle charge when driving.
Star RV allow their vehicle to be driven on any sealed road in Australia and up to 12km on unsealed roads to designated campgrounds. There are certain seasonal restrictions applied, particularly in Northern and Outback Australia.
Hirers are responsible for road toll payments. These can be made via the toll company's website and should be actioned within 48 hours of travel. Alternatively Star RV can make the payment on your behalf but will charge an administration fee.

Australia is richly populated with campgrounds and holiday parks; these are the recommended locations for overnight stays. Whilst freedom camping is available particularly in parts of Western Australia, it is prohibited in many areas with fines being applicable and not recommended. It can be confusing to work out whether freedom camping is permitted or not therefore the safer bet is to use designated campgrounds which will likely have powered sites.
