Spaceships Beta 4 is a newer vehicle, offering an excellent driving experience with a host of enhanced features, making it ideal for exploring Australia. It comes fully equipped with essential travel gear, including a dual burner cooker, fridge/freezer, two full-size double beds with an extendable sleeping option under an awning, water supply, seat-belted seating for 3-4, air conditioning, and a stereo. Driving a well-designed car like the Beta 4 provides cost savings and advantages over bulky campervans and motorhomes.

The Beta 4 Berth is a people mover vehicle with a double bed in the rear plus a pop-up rooftop tent for a second bed. This budget-friendly option works for groups of 4 — think backpackers, young travellers, or outdoor-loving families.

The rooftop tent is the standout feature here. It sets up in under 5 minutes thanks to a gas strut-assisted opening mechanism. No wrestling with poles or complicated instructions.

After a few days on the road, storage becomes the main challenge. Four people means a lot of gear, and there's not much room for it. Pack soft luggage and only bring what you need. You can use the two front seats for storage overnight to make room for the rear bed.

Here's the trade-off: you'll be living outdoors. All your cooking and daily life happens outside the vehicle. That's perfect if you're planning to spend most of your time sightseeing and love camping under the stars. Not so great if you want to retreat inside when the weather turns.

While there are better options for first-time campers, the Beta 4 offers something valuable — affordability for four people. Split the cost between friends and you've got cheap wheels and beds for your trip.

Luggage

We strongly recommend that you use soft bags instead of suitcases for your luggage. Soft bags take up less room and fit easier into the storage cupboards and lockers in the vehicle. The lockable storage compartment (1.04m x 0.54m x 0.33m) has room for two soft bags, such as backpacks or duffel bags.
