The Spaceships Alpha is generally the cheapest campervan option available. It's perfect for backpackers on a budget or anyone looking for a basic vehicle with a bed to sleep in.

This isn't about luxury — it's about getting the essentials at the lowest price. The Alpha gives you a place to sleep and basic storage, plus a rear awning that sets up to give you some extra space outside the vehicle.

Expect to spend most of your time outside if you're travelling in the Alpha. It works best when you're using it to facilitate an outdoor camping trip rather than as a mobile home. Storage space and living space are limited, so there's not much room for cooking, washing up dishes, or just escaping bad weather inside.

The trade-off is clear: the cheaper cost and smaller size means you give up living space for day-to-day comfort. There's no toilet or shower either, so plan to stay at campgrounds with those facilities available.

First-time hirers who only need a vehicle to sleep in will do well with the Alpha — as long as you've planned your travel around campgrounds with facilities. If living space inside the vehicle is essential for your trip, there are better options available.
