Spaceships is a good option if you want a compact campervan that drives and parks like a normal car, but still gives you the basics for sleeping and cooking. You're not getting a motorhome here — you're getting the freedom of a campervan without the bulk.

The standout feature is their 24/7 self-service pick-up. Land at midnight, land at 5am, doesn't matter — you can still get your van and get going. Just make sure you've finished the Online Check-in Process before you arrive. Log into the Check-in Portal and check every tab has a green tick, or you'll be stuck at the depot.

Pick-up itself is relaxed. The Spaceships team walks you through the vehicle and makes sure you're comfortable before you drive off. Because the vans are compact and simple, handover is usually quick — but give yourself a bit of time to ask questions before you hit the road.

Here's the trade-off you need to know about: you'll be living outdoors. Cooking and daily life happen outside the van, not in it. If you're planning to spend your days sightseeing and don't mind cooking under the stars, that's perfect. If you want to retreat inside when it rains, this isn't the setup for you.

Inside, you get a bed, bedding, and a basic kitchenette — no frills, just what you need. That makes Spaceships a strong fit for younger travellers who care more about the trip than the vehicle. It's budget, it's honest, and it does the job.
