DriveNow's take: vehicle | Stuart's takeYour Maui Elite will be brand new — between 0 to 1 year old, the only campervan brand with that guarantee. Perfect luxury campervan for couples or 4 adults with full kitchen kit, toilet, shower, and leather sofas. About Maui Elite Beach EliteStuart's takeYour Maui Elite will be brand new — between 0 to 1 year old. Maui Elite is the only campervan brand that guarantees vehicles under 1 year old. This is the perfect luxury campervan for couples or 4 adults. Your home on wheels has warm neutral tones, wooden floors, and leather sofas. The front dining zone pairs swivel seats with the table behind for versatile space. Everything's included: bedding and linen, full kitchen kit (plates, bowls, cutlery, bottle opener, can opener, colander, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, chopping board, kettle, toaster, tea towel), toilet, shower, central heating and cooling. The tech covers touchscreen display with radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, USB-C in cab, house entertainment screen, and external USB. Although this motorhome is large, it's easy to drive with automatic transmission and a turbo diesel engine that has plenty of power. First-timers will be fine. For week-long trips or longer, there's no better vehicle for luxury camping. Arrange an online supermarket shop from Coles or Woolworths near your first night's destination — it saves time and hassle after you've settled into camp. Book holiday parks and campgrounds ahead during busy periods. Plan your itinerary and know where to refuel and take breaks. | Stuart's take Maui Elite's largest motorhome fits 6 adults comfortably with guaranteed under-1-year-old vehicles. The River's 7.5+ metre length means limited parking options, but you get luxury features and plenty of space. About Maui Elite River EliteStuart's takeThe River Elite is Maui's largest motorhome, sleeping up to 6 adults comfortably. What sets it apart is the age guarantee — every Maui Elite vehicle is under 12 months old, the only campervan brand in Australia that can promise this. The space is impressive. Four adults will have room to spread out, and the large awning gives you plenty of shade around your camping table. You can fit 2 child seats on the forward-facing seats in the main cabin. The vehicle comes fully loaded with everything you need: bedding, linen, complete kitchen kit (including kettle and toaster), toilet, shower, heating and cooling, and entertainment screens. The trade-off is size. At 7.5+ metres long, parking becomes limited. Forget shopping centre car parks — you'll be looking for on-street parking most of the time. First-timers can handle this vehicle. The automatic transmission, turbo diesel engine, power steering and reversing camera make it manageable, even at this size. The touchscreen display includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, plus you get USB-C charging in the cab. One practical tip: book your last night at a caravan park with a dump point. You'll need to empty the toilet cassette and refill the freshwater tank before returning to the depot. The Maui Platinum Pack adds extra holiday essentials, including the option to exchange linen during longer trips. | Stuart's take Maui's guaranteed-new Elite fleet (under 1 year old) with the Sunset 6-berth designed for families. Long at 7.5+ metres, so parking gets tricky, but it's surprisingly easy to drive with automatic transmission and reversing cameras. About Maui Elite Sunset EliteStuart's takeThe Maui Elite Sunset is guaranteed to be under one year old — the only campervan brand that offers this. This 6-berth motorhome is built for families, with a bigger fridge, spacious living area, and external awning for outdoor dining. You can fit two child seats on the forward-facing seats in the main cabin. Living in it feels luxurious. Everything's included — bedding, linen, full kitchen kit, toilet, shower, heating and cooling, plus entertainment screens inside and out. The kitchen comes with plates, bowls, cutlery, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, kettle, toaster — you don't need to bring anything. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connect through the touchscreen display. The trade-off is size. At 7.5+ metres, parking gets limited and you'll be hunting for street parking rather than shopping centre spots. But don't let the length put you off — power steering, automatic transmission, reversing cameras and the turbo diesel engine make it surprisingly easy to drive with plenty of power. First-timers can handle this vehicle despite its size. The driving aids do the heavy lifting. One tip: arrange click-and-collect grocery shopping online from Coles or Woolies near your first night's destination. You'll save hours and avoid packing up camp just to hit the supermarket after you've settled in. Like most campervan companies, Maui doesn't recommend driving country roads after dusk due to wildlife risks and reduced visibility. | Stuart's take Maui's luxury option — guaranteed under 1 year old with every mod-con including toilet, shower, central heating and cooling. Perfect for couples wanting comfortable long-term travel. About Maui Elite Ultima EliteStuart's takeThis is Maui's luxury option and the only campervan brand guaranteed to be under 1 year old. Your vehicle will be between 0-1 years old — that's brand new. It's built for couples who want every comfort. You get toilet, shower, central cabin heating and cooling, plus all the tech: touchscreen display with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, house entertainment screen, and USB-C charging in the cab. The turbo diesel automatic makes it easy to drive, and the reversing camera helps with manoeuvring. After a week on the road, this vehicle stays comfortable. If your trip is a week or a month, there's no better option for luxury camping. Everything works well, nothing feels cramped. The trade-off? Length. At 7+ metres, parking gets limited. You'll often need to find street parking rather than standard car spaces. First-timers love this vehicle — it's easy to drive and has everything you need. One tip: arrange online grocery pickup from Coles or Woolworths near your first night's destination. It saves hours and makes setup much easier. If you need help during your trip, Maui's on-road team will guide you through any vehicle questions or setup issues. | Stuart's take Your Maui Elite model will be a new vehicle, ranging between 0 to 1 year of age — Maui Elite is the only campervan brand that are guaranteed to be under 1 year old. The Ultima Plus Elite has been designed for a young family of 2 adults and a child or teenager. About Maui Elite Ultima Plus EliteStuart's takeYour Maui Elite model will be a new vehicle, ranging between 0 to 1 year of age. Maui Elite is the only campervan brand that are guaranteed to be under 1 year old. The Ultima Plus Elite has been designed for a young family of 2 adults and a child or teenager. The spacious double bed is paired with a single bed that's shorter in length and narrower in width — suitable for a teenager or smaller child. The 3rd seat is located behind the driver's seat, and with walk-through access and front swivel seats, you're close enough to attend to your child while on the road. This is the leader in luxury. Your vehicle comes fully equipped with bedding and linen, complete kitchen kit (plates, bowls, cutlery, bottle opener, can opener, colander, saucepans, frying pans, cooking utensils, chopping board, kettle, toaster, and tea towel), toilet, shower, central cabin heating and cooling, touchscreen display with radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, USB-C in cab, house entertainment screen, and external USB. The trade-off? Parking at shopping centres can be limited and tight to manoeuvre the vehicle, so stick to on-street parking. For first-timers, this vehicle ticks all the boxes. Automatic transmission, power steering, and reversing camera make it easy to handle. One tip: book the last night of your trip at a caravan park or campground that has access to a dump point and hose to empty the toilet cassette and refill the freshwater tank before returning to the depot. |

Sleeping capacity
How many people the vehicle sleeps. Where the supplier separates them, adult and child places are shown; a child berth isn't big enough for an adult. Seatbelts are a separate number, so check both for a group.
Bed layout
Where each bed is and what kind it is. Some beds stay made up, while others are made from the seating each night; Main bed setup shows which.
Bed sizes
Each bed's length × width in metres. Compare the length with the tallest person travelling, and the width with who is sharing.
The bed types in this comparison:
Overcab bed
A raised sleeping area above the driver's cab. Check the vehicle details for access and any weight limits.
Dinette or lounge bed
The dining or lounge seats convert into a bed. The same space is used for sitting during the day and sleeping at night.
Rear bed
A bed at the back of the vehicle. Its position does not tell you whether it stays made up or converts from seating; check Main bed setup for that.
Double bed
One shared bed for two people. Compare the dimensions, as double beds differ in size between vehicles.
Single bed
A separate bed for one person. Some are child berths; check the sleeping capacity and dimensions in the table.
More in the handbook: Tips for a good night's sleep
A toilet and shower on board mean you can stay at basic or free campsites without amenities, and skip the night-time walk to a shared block. With a toilet only, you have the essentials; with neither, plan to stay where there are facilities.
An onboard toilet needs emptying at a dump point every few days.
More in the handbook: Emptying the toilet and waste tanks
The fridge's capacity in litres; a range means it depends on the vehicle you're given. A bigger fridge means fewer shopping stops, which matters most for families and on remote stretches.
How the fridge is powered when you're parked affects how long it keeps food cold away from a powered site.
More in the handbook: Using the fridge
In many smaller campers the table becomes the bed, so once the bed is made there's nowhere inside to sit and eat. A separate table matters on rainy days, or when someone wants to sleep while others are still up.
Not specified means the supplier doesn't publish this for that model. It doesn't mean the vehicle lacks it.
Longer vehicles have more room inside but are harder to park in town and need a bigger campsite. A range means it depends on the vehicle you're given.
Ferry fares for campervans are usually charged by length.
More in the handbook: Ferry costs
Clean water for drinking, cooking and washing. A bigger tank means longer between refills, which matters at free campsites without taps. A range means it depends on the vehicle you're given.
How long it lasts depends on how you use it, especially for showers.
More in the handbook: Fresh water
How much standing room there is inside. Taller travellers will be more comfortable with more headroom; in low-roof campers most people can't stand upright.
Used water from the sink and shower collects in the grey-water tank. A bigger tank means fewer stops at a dump point, and some campsites don't let you drain it on the ground.
It's separate from the toilet, which has its own cassette or tank.
More in the handbook: Emptying the toilet and waste tanks
Everyone travelling needs their own seatbelt, so this is the most people the vehicle can carry, even if it sleeps more. Some seats are in the living area rather than the cab.
More in the handbook: Will I need multiple vehicles?
Child seats need suitable seat positions and anchor points, and some positions only take a booster. The combination shown is what the supplier allows, so check it covers every child's age and size.
Child seats are usually hired from the supplier as an extra.
More in the handbook: Child seat hire
How you can play music, connect a phone and watch a screen. A screen doesn't guarantee TV reception or DVD playback, and listed USB ports may not charge every device quickly.
Where it says some models, it isn't guaranteed in every vehicle of that model.
More in the handbook: Using the TV or screen
How wide the vehicle is affects narrow country roads, standard car parks and tight campsites. A range means it depends on the vehicle you're given.
Multi-storey car parks, drive-throughs and some bridges have height limits, so know your vehicle's height before you set off. A raised-roof height, where shown, applies when the roof is lifted while parked.
More in the handbook: Vehicle height awareness
The supplier's age range for this model. You're given one vehicle from within it, so Up to 2 years means it has been on the supplier's fleet for no more than about two years, 4+ years means at least four, and 4–7 years means between four and seven.
Newer vehicles generally show less wear and are more likely to have recent equipment. Older vehicles have usually covered more kilometres, which raises the chance of a breakdown. Older fleets are often the budget option, and a well-maintained older camper can still suit a trip.
Suppliers count age differently. Some count time on their fleet, others go by model year, so treat a one-year difference as approximate.
More in the handbook: How likely are breakdowns?
Heating or air-conditioning for the living area with the engine off. Many units only run at a powered site, while some heaters run from gas or the house battery, so check what each one needs.
Cab air-conditioning only works while driving. Portable heaters or fans may be included or available to hire.
More in the handbook: Heating and cooling
A fixed bed stays made up, so you can rest at any time without rearranging. A bed made from the dinette or lounge gives you more living space by day, but takes a few minutes to set up each night and pack away each morning.
Some dinette beds can be left made up if you don't need the table.

Hot water makes showers and washing up easier, especially in cooler months. Without it, you'll heat water on the cooker for dishes.
Where shown, the energy source tells you what the hot water runs on.
In a combined wet room the toilet sits inside the shower, so the whole room gets wet when you shower. A separate toilet and shower works more like home but takes more space.

What you can cook on inside the vehicle. The number of burners affects how much you can cook at once, which matters for a group.
Gas cooktops run from an LPG bottle that you refill or swap on the road.

Not every appliance works from every source: air-conditioning and microwaves usually need mains power.

Whether pots, pans, plates and cutlery come with the vehicle. Most suppliers include a kitchen kit; some charge for it as an extra, so check what's included before comparing prices.

Cab air-conditioning or heating makes long drives more comfortable. It runs with the engine, so it doesn't cool or heat the living area when you're parked; see Heating & cooling when parked.
