DriveNow's take: vehicle | Stuart's takeThe Apollo Adventurer 4WD is a compact camper that can take you off-road to explore remote trails while keeping you out of the elements. Switch to low range mode when exploring rugged tracks and trails. About Apollo Adventurer Camper 4WDStuart's takeThe Apollo Adventurer 4WD is a compact camper that can take you off-road to explore remote trails while keeping you out of the elements. When exploring rugged tracks and trails, switch to low range mode to handle the terrain. This 4WD is elite when it comes to comfort while camping, with all the features you need. The pop-top roof allows in plenty of fresh air and makes the cabin spacious. After a week of living in it, you'll appreciate how well everything works together — the sleeping, cooking, and storage all stay comfortable even after day five. If you're considering becoming a regular 4WD camper, this vehicle is a great way to start. It has all the features you need without overwhelming a first-timer. Apollo provides the THL Road Trip App as your handbook for 4WD exploring — it offers maps, how-to videos, reference guides, holiday park locations, campgrounds and much more. | Stuart's take Apollo's smallest vehicle designed for couples, the Hi-Top offers great value with a reversing camera that makes parking a breeze. About Apollo HitopStuart's takeApollo's Hi-Top is designed for couples who want good value without compromising on quality. As Apollo's smallest vehicle, it's perfect for zipping around the countryside, and the reversing camera makes parking easy even for nervous drivers. This is an excellent choice for first-timers. The basic features are straightforward, and it's really easy to drive with automatic transmission. You get everything you need for a long weekend or week-long road trip: a double bed with all bedding and linen, gas stove, fridge, and microwave. There's also a touchscreen display with radio and Bluetooth, plus USB ports in the cab, house, and externally. Just remember it runs on diesel, not petrol — always double-check at the fuel pump. And know your vehicle height before you travel. Don't even think about attempting a McDonald's drive-thru. | Julie's takeCreated for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances, these budget campervans are simple, honest, and ready for the next adventure. The fridge is powered via solar panels on the roof, and you can charge phones via USB outlets in the rear cabin. About Awesome Campers BuddyJulie's takeCreated for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances, the Buddy is simple, honest, and ready for the next adventure. Perfect for travellers who want Aussie road trips with fewer battle scars and a little more polish — reliable, relaxed, and ready to roll, yet still budget-friendly. Inside you'll find a comfy double bed with bedding included, proper curtains for sleeping in, and a rear kitchenette ready for sunrise coffees and roadside dinners. The fridge runs off solar panels on the roof, and you can charge phones via USB outlets in the rear cabin. This is a good option for first-time hirers looking for a place to sleep and cook, but who'll spend most of their time outside the vehicle. If you want full facilities on board, there are better options. The trade-off with the Buddy is size — it's smaller and more compact than larger motorhomes, which makes it easier to handle on Australia's roads and keeps fuel costs down. | Julie's take Budget campervans built for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances. Simple, honest vehicles with bed, kitchenette, and the essentials — not luxury, but practical for life on the road. About Awesome Campers Sun ChaserJulie's takeThe Sun Chaser is built for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances. These budget campervans are simple, honest, and ready for the next adventure. Inside, you get a bed, curtains, bedding, and a basic kitchenette with all the essentials. It's not luxury, but it's practical — and often, that's all you need. This is a good option for first-time hirers looking for a place to sleep and cook, but who plan to spend most of their time outside the vehicle. The compact size makes it easier to maneuver on Australia's roads and keeps fuel costs down compared to larger motorhomes. The trade-off is space and facilities. There are better options if you want full facilities in your campervan. This one works best for active travelers who want maximum mobility rather than a large indoor living area. One thing to know: the fridge needs mains power at night. You'll need to plug into the white 240v power boards in the vehicle and connect to a powered site at caravan parks. Most campgrounds have these sites, so book your stays at proper caravan parks with good facilities — you'll make use of them while traveling in this compact vehicle. | Julie's take Created for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances, these budget campervans are simple, honest, and ready for the next adventure. You get window curtains for good sleep and basic facilities at a price that won't break the bank. About Awesome Campers Compact CamperJulie's takeCreated for younger travelers who prioritize experiences over appearances, these budget campervans are simple, honest, and ready for the next adventure. You get window curtains for a good night's sleep — something not obvious from the specs but crucial for rest. This is about as compact as campervans get, which brings real benefits: easier to maneuver on Australia's roads and lower fuel costs than larger motorhomes. You're trading space for mobility and savings. After five days, you'll appreciate what this vehicle is designed for — travelers who want a place to sleep and cook but plan to spend their time outside exploring. It's not built for lounging inside during bad weather. If you want full facilities and more space, look at larger options. First-timers can handle this van, but only if you're the active type who sees the van as a base camp rather than a second home. Book stays at proper caravan parks with good facilities — you'll want their amenities. One crucial detail about the fridge: at night or when parked, it needs to be plugged into the white 240v power boards inside the vehicle, and the vehicle connected to mains power at a powered site. Most campgrounds have these, but factor it into your planning. | Stuart's take Great little campervan for first-timers — basic features but everything you need for a wonderful road trip. One of the most popular vans and really easy to park. About Britz HiTopStuart's takeThe HiTop is perfect for first-time campervan travellers. It's one of Britz's most popular vehicles because it keeps things simple — basic features but everything you need for a wonderful road trip. You get all the cooking equipment for meals, a fridge to keep drinks cold, and all bedding and linen included. The trade-off is no toilet or shower, so you'll rely on holiday park facilities. For a long weekend or week-long trip, this works perfectly. The big advantage is size. This isn't as long as many other campervans, making it really easy to park. If you pack soft bags, you'll fit most of them under the bench or squeeze them into smaller spots. One tip: arrange click and collect grocery shopping from Coles or Woolworths before pickup. You'll get on the road faster and head straight to your first night's destination. | Stuart's take The Britz Maverick 4WD is ideal for travellers who want to venture beyond the usual routes without giving up comfort. It has a 140L long range tank. About Britz Maverick 4WDStuart's takeThe Britz Maverick 4WD lets you venture off the beaten track without giving up comfort — one of the best comfort 4WD campervan vehicles you'll find. The 140L long range tank means you can reach remote spots without fuel anxiety. This vehicle works well for first-timers who want to experience a 4WD getaway. You get modern tech with the touchscreen display, radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, plus USB ports in both the cab and living area. Air-conditioning and heating run in the driver's cabin when the engine's on. One important tip: book powered sites and plug into mains power as soon as you arrive at camp. The vehicle's electrical system works best when you top up the batteries regularly. | Jack's takeA cheap, simple 2-person camper built for backpackers and budget couples. The inside was refitted in 2024, so it's newer than the model year suggests. About Campervan Village Alice ChillgoodJack's takeThe Alice Chillgood is a flat-top camper for two. It's one of the most affordable options on the market, and it does exactly what it promises — simple, no-fuss travel for couples or backpackers who don't need the bells and whistles of a full motorhome. The vehicle itself is an older model (2008–2011), but don't let that put you off. The interior was completely refitted in 2024, so the fitout is still fresh. It also comes with a fitted awning, which isn't always standard at this price point. The trade-off is space. This is a flat-top camper, which means you can't stand up inside. After a few days, that starts to matter — especially if the weather turns or you're spending long stretches indoors. The awning is your living room out here. Use it. If you're picturing yourself eating, relaxing, and hanging out outside as much as possible, this vehicle works well. If you need to be comfortable inside for extended periods, look at something bigger. For first-timers, this is actually a solid choice — as long as you've done some camping before and you're ready to step up without going straight to a full motorhome. It's not the vehicle for someone who wants a shower, a full kitchen, or room to move around inside. When you pick it up, walk through the vehicle with the depot staff and ask them to show you how to set up the awning. It'll save you time on day one. | Jack's take A no-frills, budget flat-top camper for backpackers, solo travellers or couples on a budget. Has an esky instead of a fridge and you can't stand up inside. About Campervan Village Aventus (Automatic)Jack's takeA no-frills, budget flat-top camper that's perfect for backpackers, solo travellers or couples on a budget. You can't stand up inside, so this is for people who love the outdoors and won't be spending much time in the van. It has an esky instead of a fridge, which keeps costs down but means more ice runs. The Aventus drives like a normal car, which makes it easy for first-timers behind the wheel. But the small size means it gets cramped fast if you're stuck indoors on rainy days — after day five, you'll really feel the space limitations. Book campgrounds and caravan parks with good facilities, especially for longer trips. The trade-off is simple: you save money but sacrifice comfort and space. There are options with more facilities that work better for first-time campers, but if budget is your main concern, this gets the job done. One important restriction: stick to sealed roads only. Like other 2WD campervans, the Aventus isn't allowed on unsealed roads, so check your route before you go. | Julie's take A no-frills, budget flat-top camper for backpackers, solo travellers or couples on a budget. Note it runs an Esky/ice box instead of a fridge. About Campervan Village Aventus ManualJulie's takeThis is a no-frills, budget flat-top camper — a good fit for backpackers, solo travellers or couples watching their spending. One thing that's not in the specs: it's got an Esky/ice box instead of a fridge, so you'll be buying ice, not just groceries. You can't stand up inside, so it suits people who are happy living outdoors and using the campsite as their living room rather than the van. Book into caravan parks with good facilities, especially on longer trips, because you'll be relying on them more than you would in a bigger van. It drives just like a normal car, which is the upside. The trade-off is size — it's smaller than other campervan options, so it gets cramped fast if you're stuck inside on a rainy day. We'd put a first-timer in this one, as long as you're comfortable driving manual. That said, if it's your first campervan trip, there are options with more facilities that'll make life easier. This one's better suited to people who know what they're getting into. One tip before you head off: check your route and stick to sealed roads. Like the other 2WD campers, this one isn't allowed on unsealed roads. | Jack's take One of the few 4X4 campervans with a proper indoor cabin for sleeping and dining. Similar size to people-mover vehicles but with off-road capabilities and extended range. About Campervan Village D5 4X4 Adventure CamperJack's takeThe D5 4X4 Adventure Camper is one of the few 4X4 campervans that gives you a proper indoor cabin for sleeping and dining — most off-road vehicles make you set up outside. It's built on a people-mover chassis but with 4X4 capabilities and extended range for remote travel. The fit-out is modern and comfortable, with a premium mattress that's better than most campervans in this category. But pack light — storage space is tight. Use the front seats for extra storage when you're parked overnight. This vehicle isn't self-contained, so you'll need campsites or caravan parks with toilet and shower facilities. Check your travel route before you go — some locations aren't allowed, and others need written permission from the rental depot. The trade-off is cost. You'll pay a premium for 4X4 capabilities. If you're sticking to sealed roads, similar vehicles cost less. But for outdoor lovers wanting to explore off-road, this is one of the more user-friendly 4X4 options for first-time hirers. | Jack's take The Johnny Feelgood is an affordable flat-top camper that's perfect for backpackers, solo travellers and couples who want basic campervan living with a stylish fitout. You'll need campgrounds with facilities since there's no toilet or shower onboard. About Campervan Village Johnny FeelgoodJack's takeThe Johnny Feelgood hits the sweet spot for budget-conscious travellers who want something nicer than the bare basics. This flat-top camper gives you essential cooking and eating facilities with a more stylish fitout than most vehicles in this size range. For two people, you'll find decent storage space — better than you'd expect in a van this size. The trade-off is headspace. This is a flat-top camper, so you can't stand up inside. Plan your route around campgrounds with toilet and shower facilities since the van doesn't have them. This works well for backpackers and couples on a budget who don't mind outdoor living. The vehicle leans toward that outdoor experience anyway, so if you're travelling somewhere that gets cold, pack proper clothing. You'll be spending more time outside the van than you would in a high-top model. It's a solid first-timer option if you want good value without sacrificing style. Just make sure you're comfortable with the limitations of flat-top living before you book. | Jack's take An iconic mystery-machine style campervan that turns heads on the road, perfect for backpackers and couples on a budget. The portable gas cooker lets you cook outdoors and make the most of camping in nature. About Campervan Village Mystery Machine 2-SeaterJack's takeThis mystery-machine style campervan is pure fun — the iconic wrapping turns heads everywhere you go. It's built for backpackers and couples who want adventure without breaking the bank. The portable gas cooker is brilliant for outdoor cooking. You can set up anywhere and enjoy proper meals in nature instead of being stuck inside the van. After five days, you'll appreciate how simple this setup is. But know what you're getting into — this is a 20L esky, not a fridge. Forget about keeping fresh milk for a week or storing leftovers. It's ice blocks and non-perishables, which limits longer trips. The big trade-off? No toilet or shower. This flat-top design keeps costs down but means you're relying entirely on campground facilities. First-timers who love the outdoors do well with this van, but if you want more creature comforts for your first campervan trip, there are better options. Before you drive off, double-check your route sticks to sealed roads and confirm every campground has toilet and shower facilities. With a bit of planning, this van delivers exactly what it promises — budget-friendly adventure with that unmistakable mystery-machine style. | Jack's take A popular budget-friendly vehicle with backpackers that gives you the camping basics at a reasonable price. Features a hightop roof for extra headroom and storage space. About Campervan Village Mystery Machine 2-seater HightopJack's takeThis vehicle hits the sweet spot for backpackers and budget campers who want the essentials without paying for extras they won't use. The hightop roof gives you proper headroom and extra storage options — a real advantage over standard campervans in this price range. It's easy to drive and maneuver, making it good for first-time hirers who aren't intimidated by the vehicle itself. But the trade-offs are real. You get an esky instead of a fridge, so limit your food shopping to a couple of days and restock ice regularly. The double bed is narrower than most due to the layout — check the specification images before booking to make sure you're comfortable with the width. For first-time campers, there are options with more complete facilities that we'd usually recommend. This one works best if you're happy to use campground facilities. Make sure to book caravan parks or campgrounds with toilets and showers — the vehicle doesn't have its own. | Stuart's take One of the most popular Hi-Tops, this Cruisin campervan offers great value and quality. The new design makes it more economical too. About Cruisin 2 Berth Hi-TopStuart's takeOne of the most popular Hi-Tops around, this Cruisin campervan delivers great value and quality. The new design makes it more economical than earlier models. This is perfect for first-time campervaners. It's got basic features and it's really simple to drive. You get everything you need for a long weekend or a week up and down the coast — gas cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, plus bedding and linen. After day five, you'll appreciate how straightforward this vehicle is. No complicated systems to figure out, just the essentials done well. Two things before you hit the road: avoid driving on highways and country open roads at dusk, and do a click-and-collect food shop from Coles or Woolworths near your first night's destination. | Jack's take The Go Cheap 2 Berth Hitop has all the essentials at an affordable price — hitop design so you can stand inside, 2 burner gas stove, and a double bed that converts to seating. It's automatic with cruise control, perfect for longer drives. About GoCheap 2 Berth Hi TopJack's takeThe Go Cheap 2 Berth Hitop gives you all the camping essentials at an affordable price. The hitop design means you can stand inside the vehicle, there's a 2 burner gas stove for cooking, and a double bed that converts to the seating area during the day. It's automatic with cruise control — helpful for those longer highway stretches. This vehicle is tailored for people who want to immerse themselves in the outdoors. The limited interior space keeps you outside exploring rather than lounging inside. You'll need to plan stays at campgrounds with facilities though — this van isn't self-contained, so you'll rely on caravan parks for toilets, showers and other amenities. Go Cheap vehicles are older models of the Cruisin 2 Berth Hitop. You're getting an older vehicle at a cheaper price, but you can still count on the quality for all your camping essentials. Go Cheap is part of Cruisin Motorhomes, so you get their excellent customer service and on-road assistance — great for first-time hirers. Before you leave the depot, plan your first stop. Pick a campground or caravan park with toilet and shower facilities available. | Jack's take A compact people mover-style vehicle that's an affordable option for couples wanting a simple, easy-driving setup for coastal and outdoor adventures. Comes with roof racks, making it good for surfers or backpackers travelling with bulky gear. About JUCY Australia Chill'd 2-Berth CloudbreakJack's takeThe Cloudbreak is a compact people mover-style camper that's perfect for couples who want an affordable, easy-driving setup for coastal and outdoor adventures. It comes with roof racks, making it a smart choice for surfers or backpackers travelling with bulky gear like boards or hiking equipment. This van works best if you're the type who spends days exploring and mainly uses the camper for sleeping and cooking. After a week on the road, it gets very cozy if you're stuck in bad weather — you'll want to be outdoors most of the time. You trade interior living space and camper luxuries for an affordable, lighter vehicle that's easier to drive than bigger rigs. The kitchen facilities are basic and storage is limited, so pack soft luggage rather than hard cases. It's a good option for first-time hirers who want a place to sleep and cook but plan to spend their time outside the vehicle. If you want full campervan facilities, there are better options. Book stays at proper caravan parks with good facilities — you'll appreciate the extra space and amenities this compact setup doesn't provide. | Jack's take A compact and budget-friendly two-person campervan with the essentials for camping, without breaking the budget on extra comforts. This is probably the most compact 2-berth option that still provides a toilet, though the porta potti is best kept for emergencies. About JUCY Australia 2 Berth CoasterJack's takeThe JUCY Coaster is a compact and budget-friendly two-person campervan that gives you the essentials without breaking the budget on extra comforts. This is probably the most compact 2-berth option that still provides a toilet, though the porta potti is best kept for emergencies rather than relying on it for off-grid camping. The vehicle is very compact, which can make longer hires challenging, but it uses its space wisely and offers great value for the right traveller. You give up a fixed bed and larger bathroom facilities in exchange for better manoeuvrability and a more affordable option. The automatic transmission and smaller vehicle footprint make this a favourite for first-time campers, whether you're backpackers or price-conscious solo travellers and couples. One tip: convert the bed back into seating each morning to keep the van feeling open and functional during the day. After day five, you'll appreciate every bit of space you can get. | Jack's take A compact and affordable 2-berth campervan that drives like a people mover van rather than a traditional camper, making it far less stressful to drive. About JUCY Australia Chill'd 2-Berth MalibuJack's takeThis compact 2-berth campervan gives couples or solo travellers a flexible road trip setup without breaking the bank. The key advantage? It drives much more like a people mover van than a traditional camper, making driving far less stressful than a full-size motorhome. The trade-off is clear: you get easy driving, manoeuvrability and an affordable price in exchange for an older model vehicle with minimal inside space. The flat top design means headroom is limited, and after day five of a longer trip, the compact interior can feel cramped. Plan to spend most of your time outdoors. This works well for first-time campers who just need a place to sleep and get between locations. It's suited to backpackers and budget-minded travellers who prioritise mobility over living space. The facilities are basic compared to larger vehicles, but if you're not planning to spend hours inside cooking elaborate meals, it does the job. Two practical tips: keep your luggage and gear organised from day one — clutter becomes annoying quickly in a small space. And when you collect the van, check carefully for minor scratches or damage. It's an older model, so make sure everything is noted on the rental agreement before you drive away. | Stuart's take The Tourer is a compact campervan with a smart, space-efficient layout that maximises your internal cabin space. It's easy to drive and not too long, making it perfect for first-timers. About Let’s Go TourerStuart's takeThe Tourer is a compact campervan built around smart space-efficient design. Every inch of the cabin is designed to give you maximum living space without the bulk of a larger vehicle. It's easy to drive and manageable in length — perfect if you're new to campervans or want something nimble for exploring. You'll find it handles more like a van than a motorhome. After a few days on the road, you'll appreciate the thoughtful layout. But this is where the trade-off becomes clear: there's no shower or indoor toilet (though you do get a porta-potty). We'd suggest booking into holiday parks that offer shower and toilet facilities to guests. Pack smart with this one. Hard luggage will eat up your storage space fast — bring soft bags instead. They'll squeeze into corners and under seats where rigid suitcases won't fit. Before you drive off, do a complete walk-around and photograph any existing scratches or damage. Take a photo of the dashboard too. It's basic advice, but it'll save you headaches later. | Julie's take Mighty's budget campervan with THL service but basic features — no hot water or awning. Great value for short trips if you want cheap and cheerful. About Mighty Lite HiLITEJulie's takeThis is Mighty's budget offering, and you get what you pay for. The HiLite has been on the road longer than THL's premium brands, but it's still in good condition and gives you the same reliable service — Mighty is THL's cheap brand alongside Apollo, Britz, and Maui. It's pretty basic but has everything you need for a weekend away. You won't get hot water or an awning, so factor that into your plans. After five days you'll notice what's missing, but for short trips it does the job without the fancy extras. This works well for first-timers, but stick to a few days rather than a 3-4 week lap of Australia. It's maintained with care despite the budget positioning, and the trade-off is simple — you give up comfort for value. One important detail: check which fuel your specific van takes when you collect it. Mighty runs a mixed fleet of petrol and diesel vehicles, so don't assume. | Julie's take The Mighty Highball is good value for couples who want easy driving and compact parking without breaking the bank. It's the smallest in Mighty's fleet but has all the basics you need. About Mighty HighballJulie's takeThe Mighty Highball is good value for couples who want easy driving and compact parking without breaking the bank. You can park this thing everywhere, and it won't stress your budget or your driving skills. This is the smallest vehicle in Mighty's fleet, so don't expect plenty of space. But for couples who don't want to spend too much and still want to enjoy camping, it hits the sweet spot. After a week, you'll need to stay disciplined about tidying up — empty the rubbish each night and keep things organised so you have room to move around. We'd put first-timers in this van without hesitation. It's easy to drive, compact, has all the basics, and won't hurt your bank account. Perfect for a couple or single person getting their feet wet with campervan travel. Before you drive off: take photos of the vehicle and dashboard, check the fuel level, and make sure the gas bottle is full. And here's a power tip — park in the shade when you can to reduce power consumption. | Julie's take It accommodates two people in a comfortable queen-sized bed with a pop-top roof that provides additional room to stand up and spread out. The outside kitchen sits under the roll-out awning for real outdoor cooking. About Mighty Mighty 4WDJulie's takeThis 4WD campervan fits two people with a comfortable queen-sized bed and features a pop-top roof that gives you extra room to stand up, relax, and spread out. The outside kitchen sits under the roll-out awning — you'll be doing real outdoor cooking. It's built for 4WD adventures and makes life easy. The slide-out kitchen assembles quickly, and the whole setup packs away fast so you can change locations and find your next camp site without hassle. After a week on the road, you'll appreciate how simple everything is to manage. The trade-off: there's no heating or air-con in the pop-top roof area where you sleep. You can rent extra bedding at pickup if you're travelling in cooler weather. This van is designed for travellers who value independence and the outdoors — it's not for first-timers who want hotel-style comfort. If you're picking one up, download the THL Road Trip App. It's packed with maps, how-to videos, reference guides, and locations for holiday parks and campgrounds. | Jack's take The Spaceships Alpha is generally the cheapest campervan option available and suitable for backpackers on a budget or hirers looking for a basic vehicle with a bed to sleep in. While it doesn't have the features or living space of larger vehicles, it does offer a rear awning that can be set up to give some extra space. About Spaceships Campers AlphaJack's takeThe Spaceships Alpha is generally the cheapest campervan option available. It's perfect for backpackers on a budget or anyone looking for a basic vehicle with a bed to sleep in. This isn't about luxury — it's about getting the essentials at the lowest price. The Alpha gives you a place to sleep and basic storage, plus a rear awning that sets up to give you some extra space outside the vehicle. Expect to spend most of your time outside if you're travelling in the Alpha. It works best when you're using it to facilitate an outdoor camping trip rather than as a mobile home. Storage space and living space are limited, so there's not much room for cooking, washing up dishes, or just escaping bad weather inside. The trade-off is clear: the cheaper cost and smaller size means you give up living space for day-to-day comfort. There's no toilet or shower either, so plan to stay at campgrounds with those facilities available. First-time hirers who only need a vehicle to sleep in will do well with the Alpha — as long as you've planned your travel around campgrounds with facilities. If living space inside the vehicle is essential for your trip, there are better options available. One practical tip: Spaceships rentals have no-contact collection and drop-off times available. Complete your online check-in and watch the vehicle videos before you arrive — it's essential. | Jack's take The Spaceships Beta is a budget campervan for backpackers and outdoor campers who don't mind living small. Seats 4 but sleeps 2 — bring a tent if you want to split costs with friends. About Spaceships Campers BetaJack's takeThe Spaceships Beta is built for budget-minded travellers who plan to spend their time outdoors, not inside the van. This 2-berth campervan sleeps two but seats four, so you can split the rental cost with friends if two of you don't mind bringing a tent. Living space and storage are limited — think of this as your base camp, not your mobile home. After five days on the road, you'll feel the squeeze if you're trying to live inside the van. When the weather turns bad, you'll need campground facilities rather than retreating into your vehicle. First-time hirers who love the outdoors will do well with the Beta. But if you want space to relax inside your van or you're not comfortable relying on campground amenities, look at bigger options. Before you travel, complete Spaceships' online check-in. If you need to collect outside normal hours, they offer no-contact pickup — handy for early flights or weekend starts. | Jack's take The Beta 2S is the premium option in Spaceships' people mover sized vehicles — good for backpackers or young couples on a budget. The rear seats have been removed, giving you more space than the Alpha or regular Beta. About Spaceships Campers Beta 2SJack's takeThe Beta 2S sits at the top of Spaceships' people mover range. It's built for backpackers travelling the east coast or young couples who want something better than the basic options without jumping to a full-size van. The key difference is space. Spaceships removed the rear seats, so you get noticeably more room than the Alpha or regular Beta. That extra space makes a real difference when you're living in the vehicle for a week or more. But you're still in a people mover. You can't stand up inside, so cooking and daily life happens outside the vehicle. Outdoor lovers who plan to use campground facilities get the most out of this setup. This works well for first-timers who want a discreet option — it doesn't scream "tourist van" like some of the brighter coloured vehicles. Just make sure to book campgrounds with facilities. The Beta 2S doesn't have a toilet or shower, so you'll need those amenities on-site. | Jack's take A simple and affordable 2 berth campervan that's perfect for backpackers or budget travellers wanting a sleepervan at minimal cost. The vehicle age is between 2010-2013 but the fitout is much newer (2017-2018). About Travellers Autobarn BudgieJack's takeThe Budgie is a simple and affordable 2 berth campervan that's perfect for backpackers or budget travellers wanting a sleepervan at minimal cost. While the vehicle itself is from 2010-2013, the interior fitout is much newer — between 2017-2018 — so you get a fresh cabin in a proven van. This is about getting on the road cheaply, not luxury. There's no fridge — you get an icebox instead. That means buying ice regularly and not stocking up on too much perishable food for longer trips. Buy a small extra cooler bag or be prepared to purchase ice every couple of days because the icebox won't perform like a powered fridge. After five days, outdoor lovers are drawn to this vehicle because it does what it promises: cheap, reliable transport with a bed. You trade modern luxuries and built-in amenities for affordability and low-cost travel flexibility. First-timers can handle the Budgie, but only if you're comfortable driving manual and happy with a minimalist camper experience. If you need all the conveniences, look elsewhere. If you want to get out on the road without breaking the bank, this works. | Jack's take A budget-friendly 2-berth campervan for backpackers who don't need the frills of newer vehicles. Comes with an esky instead of a fridge, so you'll need to stock up on ice. About Travellers Autobarn ChubbyJack's takeThe Chubby is Travellers Autobarn's budget option for backpackers and experienced campers who prioritise affordability over amenities. This 2-berth van trades luxury features for low prices and easy driving. The biggest difference you'll notice is the esky instead of a fridge. You'll need to buy ice regularly and only get what you need for each leg of your trip. The upside? You can stay anywhere — no need for powered campsites to keep food cold. After five days, you'll feel the space limitations. This isn't a vehicle for indoor living. It works well for travellers who spend their days exploring and just need somewhere to sleep. If you want room to relax inside or cook elaborate meals, look at bigger options. First-timers expecting the full "home on wheels" experience should probably start elsewhere. This van suits people already comfortable with basic camping who want maximum flexibility at minimum cost. The trade-off is clear: you give up fixed amenities and living space for manoeuvrability, stress-free driving, and the ability to camp anywhere. Take a powerbank for off-grid phone charging and embrace the minimalist approach. | Julie's take A basic Nissan X-Trail with camping gear — you sleep in a separate 2-man tent, not in the vehicle, so bring your own mattress. It's 2WD and simple, built for travellers after a budget option. About Travellers Autobarn X-WagonJulie's takeThe X-Wagon is a Nissan X-Trail kitted out with camping gear — it's 2WD and simple to drive, a solid budget pick. But don't think of it as a campervan. You sleep in a separate 2-man tent, and you'll need to bring your own mattress, pillow, cushions and bedding — none of that comes with the vehicle. Because of the size, you can't stand up inside the X-Trail itself, so this suits people who genuinely like the outdoors and don't mind camping in a tent each night. For longer trips, book campgrounds or caravan parks with good facilities — you'll want the extra comfort by day five. It's easy enough to drive that we'd happily put a first-timer in it, but if you want more facilities and an easier first trip, there are better-suited options in the range. Before you drive off, check the tent and camping gear at the depot — it's all fairly basic, so make sure everything you need is actually there. This is a budget rental, so expect honest, lived-in fleet condition rather than a showroom car. If you want a cheap way to see Australia in a comfortable, modern SUV and don't mind tent life, this is the one. | Jack's take A budget friendly option to explore Tasmania, this affordable flat top camper has a uniquely Tasmanian exterior that matches their expert knowledge in all things about Tasmanian camping. About Tasmania Campers Devil SleepervanJack's takeThis is Tasmania Campers' budget option — an affordable flat top camper with a uniquely Tasmanian exterior that reflects the company's local expertise. The vehicle is easy to drive and suitable for first-time campers who've only driven cars before, making it easier to handle over longer periods in Tasmania than larger motorhomes. The bed sets up easily, which helps when you're tired after a day exploring. But the vehicle's size means it can feel cramped on longer hires — fine for a weekend, tougher after day five. Here's the trade-off: the affordable price comes at the cost of vehicle age. These are well-maintained by Tasmania Campers, but they're not new vehicles. Expect some wear and tear from years on the road. While it's easy to drive, there are other options with more facilities that might suit first-time campers better. Give the vehicle a thorough check on pickup day and ask any questions about how to use it while you're still at the depot. The staff are Tasmania experts — use their knowledge if you're unsure about your travel plans. | Jack's take A compact and affordable 4WD camper suited to solo travellers or couples who want to get off the sealed roads and explore Tasmania's more remote campgrounds. Rather than rooftop tents like other 4WD options, this camper has a cabin with a pop up roof to cook in and escape bad weather. About Tasmania Campers Bush Camper 2 BerthJack's takeThis compact 4WD camper is built for solo travellers or couples who want to explore Tasmania's remote campgrounds that 2WD vans can't reach. Unlike other 4WD options with rooftop tents, you get a proper cabin with a pop-up roof — somewhere to cook and shelter from Tasmania's unpredictable weather. For travellers who enjoy the off-grid experience, there's sufficient space inside for trips longer than a week. The trade-off is simple: you give up some comforts of the nicer 2WD options for the ability to drive on unsealed roads and reach those hidden spots. This isn't a bad choice for first-time campers specifically looking for a budget-friendly 4WD option, though there are newer models better suited to beginners if you can stretch the budget. You'll get the most value by using this van to reach locations unavailable to 2WD campers — ask the depot staff for their off-the-beaten-track recommendations. Before hitting gravel roads, store everything in the cabin securely to avoid damage, and check your tyres before any off-road driving. |
DriveNow's take: supplier | Jack's take Apollo is one of Australia and New Zealand's biggest campervan companies, running a wide range of mid-premium vehicles from hitop campers to 6-berth motorhomes, with great coverage of locations in both countries. About ApolloJack's takeApollo specialises in high quality leisure vehicles across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and North America. They're an established brand with a large fleet and good depot coverage, which matters if your trip involves one-way hire or you need backup near your route. Where Apollo really stands out is the mid-premium range, across every vehicle size. Whether you need a hitop for a couple or a 6-berth motorhome for the whole family, Apollo has something that fits. The Euro Quest is a good one to start with — it works for a family of 4, gives couples extra room to stretch out, and suits groups after a more compact 4-berth. It's a solid all-rounder and probably the vehicle that sums up what Apollo does best. One thing worth knowing before you book: Apollo's fleet is genuinely young, generally 0-4 years old with an average age of around 2 years. You're not getting a tired old van. Pick-up is straightforward. Apollo's online check-in, done before your collection day, cuts down the time you spend at the depot. Their companion app has guides you can read or watch during your hire, which helps if you hit a question on the road instead of having to call someone. If something does go wrong, Apollo has a dedicated team for on-road care and for pre and post-hire questions. Because they're one of the larger campervan companies, they've got a wide network of trusted mechanics and enough depots around the country that getting to one for a fix usually isn't a big detour. Apollo suits almost anyone — solo travellers, families, and groups will all find something in the fleet. If you're watching your budget, keep an eye out for their sales, since the mid-premium positioning means you're not always at the cheapest end of the market outside of a deal. | Jack's take Apollo is one of Australia and New Zealand's biggest campervan companies, running a wide range of mid-premium vehicles from hitop campers to 6-berth motorhomes, with great coverage of locations in both countries. They're a solid pick if you want an easy-to-drive van that's ready to go, not a luxury motorhome. About Awesome CampersJulie's takeAwesome Campers keeps things simple. They're a family-owned Australian business with around 20 years in the game, and their whole focus is easy-to-drive, practical campers at a good price. No frills, no overcomplicating things — just a van that's fully equipped for cooking and sleeping so you can jump in and drive off. What they do better than most: every van comes ready for the road. You get everything you need for cooking and sleeping sorted, which makes this a genuinely simple option if you don't want to think too hard about your setup. Here's what to know before you book. These vans are built to be practical, not luxurious. They're compact and easy to drive around, but space and storage are limited — especially on longer trips. Pack light, and check the layout suits your needs before you commit. Pickup is straightforward. The team walks you through the vehicle and shows you how everything works before you head off. Give yourself a bit of extra time for the handover so you're not rushed and can ask questions before you start driving. If something goes wrong on the road, Awesome Campers have RACQ membership, so you've got roadside assistance backing you up. That cover runs 9am to 7pm, every day. Best fit: younger travellers and solo travellers who care more about the experience than the extras. Inside you get a bed, bedding, and a basic kitchenette — not luxury, but honest and practical, which is often all you need. Van to look at first: the Coast Hopper, their newest addition. The outdoor space is where it shines — roll out the awning for instant shade, and use the external shower for an easy beach rinse-off after a swim. | Julie's take Awesome Campers is a family-owned Australian company with around 20 years of experience, focused on simple, affordable campervans without the extras. About BritzJack's takeBritz have been running campervan and motorhome hire for over 25 years, and it shows. Whether you're a first-timer or you've done this a dozen times, Britz is a solid baseline for mid-premium vehicles — good quality, well looked after, and easy to deal with. What they do better than most: customer service that's easy to reach, and vehicles that are properly maintained. You're not paying premium prices, but you're getting good value for what you pay. One thing that surprises people — Britz run 4WD campers, which a lot of other suppliers don't offer. If you're heading off the main highways, that's worth knowing about early, since not every company can put you in a proper 4WD setup. Pickup is straightforward. Britz have an online check-in you complete before you arrive, so you're not standing at the counter filling out forms. They also have a companion app with guides you can read or watch during your hire, which helps if something comes up on the road and you're not sure what to do. If something does go wrong, Britz have a dedicated team for on-road care and pre- and post-hire questions. They've got a wide network of trusted mechanics and good depot coverage, so if you hit a problem, you're not stuck waiting days for help. Britz suit outdoor adventurers best, thanks to the 4WD camper range, but they've also got a solid standard fleet of 2WD campers and motorhomes for people who just want an easy, no-hassle hire. First-timers do well with them for that reason. If you want to see what they're capable of, look at the Britz Warrior 4WD. It's a newer addition to the fleet — most are 0-2 years old — and it's built for serious 4WD adventures, not just a badge on a standard van. | Jack's take Britz is one of the best-known campervan and motorhome providers in Australia and New Zealand, with a wide range of well-maintained mid-premium vehicles and one of the few 4WD camper fleets on the market. About Campervan VillageJulie's takeCampervan Village is all about price. The fleet skews older and more basic than what you'll get from the newer suppliers, so book with realistic expectations. The vans will show some wear. If you're after the cheapest way to get on the road and don't mind a bit of character in your camper, this is a solid fit. If you want a newer, more comfortable vehicle, look elsewhere. Worth knowing before you book: the 2WD campers don't have backseats, so they're not suitable if you're travelling with young kids. The 4WD vehicles do have child seat anchorages, but Campervan Village doesn't supply child seats at any of their locations — you'll need to source one from a third party, and availability depends on where you're picking up. One safety note: don't install a child restraint in the centre seat of the second row. There's no top tether anchorage there. Pickup is BYO on a few things. Bring your own blankets or sleeping bags, pillows, and towels — none of this is supplied, though some depots sell linen packs if you forget. Also bring a 12V to USB adapter and your own USB/AUX cables, since not all campers have USB ports built in. Do the online check-in before you arrive — ideally 72 hours ahead — or you'll be standing around at the depot while it gets sorted. One genuine plus: some depots have a late returns key drop box, so if your flight's delayed or you're running behind, you're not stuck waiting for someone to be there to collect the keys. If something goes wrong on the road, every hire comes with a 24-hour helpline for breakdowns or equipment issues. For the vehicle itself, we'd point people to the Grip 4x4 with dual rooftop tents. They're not the cheapest option, but the quality shows — especially if you're planning a longer trip. About CruisinJulie's takeCruisin' is one of Australia's standout, Australian-owned motorhome providers. They've built a strong reputation on the back of a modern, well-maintained fleet and solid customer service. If you want a more premium motorhome experience — for a couple's trip or a family holiday — Cruisin' is worth a look. What they do better than most is comfort. Their motorhomes are designed to make the whole journey easier, not just the driving part. Every branch offers storage too, so you can drop off a suitcase before you hit the road — just know you'll need to return the vehicle to the same branch, within opening hours, to pick it back up. Here's what surprises people: Cruisin' isn't the cheapest option out there. That extra cost buys you better build quality, more equipment, and a more comfortable rig. If you want more space and better facilities on a longer trip, it's usually money well spent. If you're on a tight budget and just need something basic for a short hop, you might not need to pay the premium. Pickup is generally quick and easy, unless you're travelling during peak season or hit a busy day at the depot. Do the express check-in beforehand and have your card ready for any outstanding payments — it'll speed things up further. If something goes wrong on the road, Cruisin's roadside team is available 24/7 for technical questions, accidents, or breakdowns. It's a free service included with every rental, and the number's right there on your keychain. Cruisin' suits pretty much everyone — solo travellers, families, groups — you'll usually find something in their fleet that fits. They're especially good for anyone planning a longer road trip who wants a motorhome that's reliable and easy to live in day after day. Our pick from their range is the 4 Berth Seeker. It's a great all-rounder for couples or small families, with two fixed double beds, a spacious bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen. The no-fuss layout means less time setting up beds and more time actually enjoying the trip. One more thing: Cruisin' has a full library of motorhome guides and tutorials on their YouTube channel, worth a watch before you pick up so you're not fumbling with the gas or the water system on day one. Cruisin motorhome guides and tutorials | Julie's take GoCheap is the budget arm of Cruisin, running an older but well-maintained fleet for travellers who want a campervan without paying premium prices. Good fit if you'd rather spend your money on experiences than on the newest van. About GoCheapJulie's takeGoCheap is the budget brand from Cruisin, and it does exactly what it says on the tin — gets you a campervan for less. The fleet is older than Cruisin's, but it's professionally cleaned and regularly serviced, so you're not giving up reliability to save money. The main thing to know before you book: the vehicles are 4-7 years old (Hitops are from 2017). You won't get the modern comforts of a premium van, but you'll have everything you need for a proper road trip. If keeping costs down matters more to you than driving the newest motorhome on the road, GoCheap is a smart pick. Pickup is straightforward. Outside peak periods it shouldn't take long at all. Do the express check-in beforehand and have your card ready for any outstanding payments — it speeds things up. If something goes wrong on the road, GoCheap's roadside team is available 24/7 for technical issues, accidents or breakdowns. It's a free service on all rentals, and the number's on your vehicle's keychain. GoCheap suits budget-conscious couples, friends and families who are happy with an older van and would rather put their money into fuel, activities and exploring than into vehicle age. If that's you, start with the Derwent 6 berth — plenty of sleeping space, motorhome freedom, and it's built for longer trips without the premium price tag. | Jack's take JUCY is a budget-friendly, youth-oriented campervan hire company with 25+ years in the industry and depots right across Australia. About Let’s GoJulie's takeLet's Go Motorhomes is a good option if you want a modern, well-equipped motorhome without paying premium prices. Their Jayco vehicles are generally in good condition and built for longer trips, with a solid range of layouts for couples and families. Being backed by Jayco, Australia's largest RV manufacturer, is their real advantage. That means access to Jayco's dealer network and over 90 repair centres nationwide — so if something goes wrong, help isn't far away. The catch: their fleet is small. Popular vehicles book out well ahead, especially over school holidays and other peak periods. If you've got specific dates or a particular motorhome in mind, book early. They run Early Bird discounts through the year too, so there's no reason to leave it late. Pickup takes about an hour. Staff check your details and travel info, sort any outstanding payment, and walk you through the rental agreement and a full vehicle induction — inside and out — so you know how everything works before you drive off. You can speed this up by completing self check-in beforehand and entering your driver details in advance, which lets branch staff process you faster on the day. It's built for couples — proper kitchen, decent living space, and an ensuite shower and toilet. It's easy to set up and has the comforts you want for a longer trip, without stepping up to one of the bigger motorhomes. | Julie's take Mighty Lite is THL's budget Hitop specialist — part of the same group as Mighty, Britz, Maui and Apollo, but stripped back to simple, affordable campervans for travellers who don't need the extras. They're best known for keeping things simple — and for letting you pick up your van any time of day or night with their self-service system. About Spaceships CampersJulie's takeSpaceships is a good option if you want a compact campervan that drives and parks like a normal car, but still gives you the basics for sleeping and cooking. You're not getting a motorhome here — you're getting the freedom of a campervan without the bulk. The standout feature is their 24/7 self-service pick-up. Land at midnight, land at 5am, doesn't matter — you can still get your van and get going. Just make sure you've finished the Online Check-in Process before you arrive. Log into the Check-in Portal and check every tab has a green tick, or you'll be stuck at the depot. Pick-up itself is relaxed. Because the vans are compact and simple, handover is usually quick — but give yourself a bit of time to ask questions before you hit the road. Here's the trade-off you need to know about: you'll be living outdoors. Cooking and daily life happen outside the van, not in it. If you're planning to spend your days sightseeing and don't mind cooking under the stars, that's perfect. If you want to retreat inside when it rains, this isn't the setup for you. If something goes wrong on the road, every Spaceships vehicle comes with 24-hour roadside assistance through RACQ, covering you in every state and territory. The vans are regularly maintained, so breakdowns aren't common, but you're covered if one happens. One more thing worth knowing: Spaceships accepts provisional (P) licences. You just need to be at least 18, have held your licence for 6 months, and drive within its conditions. No extra fee for young drivers, either. | Julie's take Spaceships makes small, easy-to-drive campervans for travellers who want freedom without the size and cost of a full motorhome. Call 1800 674 374 from an Australian landline, or +61 2 8323 1555 from mobiles and overseas (charges apply). If you're calling from WA, remember the 2-3 hour time difference. Travellers Autobarn is the right call for budget-conscious travellers who don't mind a simpler, older-style van in exchange for keeping costs down. They suit people who care more about value for money and getting on the road than chasing the latest fit-out. For a first pick, go with the Hi-5. It sleeps up to five (though only two proper double beds), and comes with a real kitchenette, fridge, microwave, and solar panel. It's a solid step up in space and comfort for families or small groups without pushing you into a full-size motorhome. | Julie's take Tasmania Campers is a Hobart-based operator specialising in affordable campervans and 4WD Bushcampers for exploring Tasmania. They're a solid pick for couples, families and adventurous travellers who want to get off the main routes without paying premium prices. About Tasmania CampersJulie's takeTasmania Campers focus on one thing: getting you around Tasmania without breaking the bank. They run a Hobart depot close to the airport, and their fleet covers everything from compact 2/3 berth HiTop campervans to family-friendly 4+1 models and 2 or 4 berth 4WD Bushcampers built for gravel roads and remote tracks. Where they stand out is the range of budget options. Whether you're a couple wanting something simple, a family that needs extra berths, or a group planning to head off the beaten track, there's a vehicle here that fits. Here's the trade-off: cheaper rates mean older vehicles. Tasmania Campers keep them well-maintained, but you should expect some wear and tear — these aren't new vans. The campervans are built to be practical, not luxurious, so check the facilities and size suit your trip before you book. Pick-up is straightforward. The depot's a short trip from Hobart Airport, and the team walks you through the vehicle and how everything works before you head off. Give yourself a bit of extra time at handover so you're not rushed and can ask questions before you hit the road. If something goes wrong on the road, every Tasmania Campers vehicle comes with Nationwide NRMA roadside service. They also give you a list of nationwide service centres and authorise up to AU$100 in emergency repairs, so you can sort out minor issues quickly instead of waiting around. Our pick from the fleet is the 4WD Bushcamper 4 berth. It's compact, practical, and built for couples who want a real Tasmanian adventure — off the main tourist routes but with proper indoor shelter, which matters when Tasmania's weather turns on you. If remote exploring is the goal, their 4WD range generally is worth a look, but go in with realistic expectations about comfort and space. Overall, Tasmania Campers suit budget-conscious travellers, couples, and families who want flexibility and value over flash extras — especially if part of the plan is getting off the beaten track. | Julie's take Tasmania Campers is a Hobart-based operator specialising in affordable campervans and 4WD Bushcampers for exploring Tasmania. Sleeping capacity
How many people the vehicle sleeps. Where the supplier separates them, adult and child places are shown; a child berth isn't big enough for an adult. Seatbelts are a separate number, so check both for a group.
Bed layout
Where each bed is and what kind it is. Some beds stay made up, while others are made from the seating each night; Main bed setup shows which.
Bed sizes
Each bed's length × width in metres. Compare the length with the tallest person travelling, and the width with who is sharing.
Not specified means the supplier doesn't publish this for that model. It doesn't mean the vehicle lacks it.
The bed types in this comparison:
Dinette or lounge bed
The dining or lounge seats convert into a bed. The same space is used for sitting during the day and sleeping at night.
Rear bed
A bed at the back of the vehicle. Its position does not tell you whether it stays made up or converts from seating; check Main bed setup for that.
Double bed
One shared bed for two people. Compare the dimensions, as double beds differ in size between vehicles.

A toilet and shower on board mean you can stay at basic or free campsites without amenities, and skip the night-time walk to a shared block. With a toilet only, you have the essentials; with neither, plan to stay where there are facilities.
An onboard toilet needs emptying at a dump point every few days.

The supplier's age range for this model. You're given one vehicle from within it, so Up to 2 years means it has been on the supplier's fleet for no more than about two years, 4+ years means at least four, and 4–7 years means between four and seven.
Newer vehicles generally show less wear and are more likely to have recent equipment. Older vehicles have usually covered more kilometres, which raises the chance of a breakdown. Older fleets are often the budget option, and a well-maintained older camper can still suit a trip.
Suppliers count age differently. Some count time on their fleet, others go by model year, so treat a one-year difference as approximate.

The fridge's capacity in litres; a range means it depends on the vehicle you're given. A bigger fridge means fewer shopping stops, which matters most for families and on remote stretches.
How the fridge is powered when you're parked affects how long it keeps food cold away from a powered site.

Heating or air-conditioning for the living area with the engine off. Many units only run at a powered site, while some heaters run from gas or the house battery, so check what each one needs.
Cab air-conditioning only works while driving. Portable heaters or fans may be included or available to hire.

A fixed bed stays made up, so you can rest at any time without rearranging. A bed made from the dinette or lounge gives you more living space by day, but takes a few minutes to set up each night and pack away each morning.
Some dinette beds can be left made up if you don't need the table.

Hot water makes showers and washing up easier, especially in cooler months. Without it, you'll heat water on the cooker for dishes.
Where shown, the energy source tells you what the hot water runs on.

In many smaller campers the table becomes the bed, so once the bed is made there's nowhere inside to sit and eat. A separate table matters on rainy days, or when someone wants to sleep while others are still up.

Longer vehicles have more room inside but are harder to park in town and need a bigger campsite. A range means it depends on the vehicle you're given.
Ferry fares for campervans are usually charged by length.

Clean water for drinking, cooking and washing. A bigger tank means longer between refills, which matters at free campsites without taps. A range means it depends on the vehicle you're given.
How long it lasts depends on how you use it, especially for showers.

What you can cook on inside the vehicle. The number of burners affects how much you can cook at once, which matters for a group.
Gas cooktops run from an LPG bottle that you refill or swap on the road.

Used water from the sink and shower collects in the grey-water tank. A bigger tank means fewer stops at a dump point, and some campsites don't let you drain it on the ground.
It's separate from the toilet, which has its own cassette or tank.

Everyone travelling needs their own seatbelt, so this is the most people the vehicle can carry, even if it sleeps more. Some seats are in the living area rather than the cab.
More in the handbook: Will I need multiple vehicles?
Child seats need suitable seat positions and anchor points, and some positions only take a booster. The combination shown is what the supplier allows, so check it covers every child's age and size.
Child seats are usually hired from the supplier as an extra.

How you can play music, connect a phone and watch a screen. A screen doesn't guarantee TV reception or DVD playback, and listed USB ports may not charge every device quickly.
Where it says some models, it isn't guaranteed in every vehicle of that model.

How the vehicle is powered when parked. At a powered site everything runs; off-grid, the house battery and any solar run the lights, fridge and charging.
Not every appliance works from every source: air-conditioning and microwaves usually need mains power.
More in the handbook: What works off-grid
