The Johnny Feelgood hits the sweet spot for budget-conscious travellers who want something nicer than the bare basics. This flat-top camper gives you essential cooking and eating facilities with a more stylish fitout than most vehicles in this size range.

For two people, you'll find decent storage space — better than you'd expect in a van this size. The trade-off is headspace. This is a flat-top camper, so you can't stand up inside. Plan your route around campgrounds with toilet and shower facilities since the van doesn't have them.

This works well for backpackers and couples on a budget who don't mind outdoor living. The vehicle leans toward that outdoor experience anyway, so if you're travelling somewhere that gets cold, pack proper clothing. You'll be spending more time outside the van than you would in a high-top model.

It's a solid first-timer option if you want good value without sacrificing style. Just make sure you're comfortable with the limitations of flat-top living before you book.
