What to do in Dallas and Fort Worth

When you land at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, you’ll get two cities for the price of one. The drive between the two is just short of an hour, so depending upon how long you’re staying in the area, you’ll have plenty of time to explore both.

Start off in Fort Worth, and head for the Stockyards National Historic District. It’s here that the city harks back to its roots, as daily cattle drives take place throughout the streets. On Friday and Saturday nights, the Championship Rodeo takes place, where you can watch cowboys test their talents at riding, tying and roping.

Afterwards, head out towards Arlington, a town roughly halfway between Fort Worth and Dallas. Here, you’ll find the AT&T Stadium – the home of the Dallas Cowboys. American football is huge in this part of the world, and even if you’re not a fan, it’s well worth paying a visit to this shrine of the sport. It’s the biggest domed stadium in America – 80,000 fans regularly cram into here to roar their team on. There are several kinds of tour to take, or even go for a game, if you get the chance.

In Dallas itself, head to the World Aquarium. This is more of an ocean than an aquarium, as you’ll see sharks, manta rays, flamingos, and a whole host of other rare marine life circling the big blue. Be sure to watch the live feeding times, as this is a chance to see these creatures eat and behave as they do in the wild – a once in a lifetime opportunity.
