Mallorca is a dazzling Mediterranean destination, and once you arrive in its capital, Palma de Mallorca, it's not hard to see why. This thriving city is not only the capital of Mallorca, but also the capital of the Balearic Islands, which comprise of Formentera, Ibiza and Menorca. There are plenty of options for tourists in Palma, from sunbathing on luxurious white sand beaches to viewing the historic Palma cathedral.

With such a variety of attractions, it's no wonder Palma de Mallorca Airport is busy. Ranked as the third busiest Spanish airport behind Barcelona and Madrid, the airport sees a lot of action, particularly in the summer when people escape to Spain for some fun in the sun. With so many people in a small place, wanting to start their holiday, it can be hectic, but luckily for you, we've put together all the information that you need to know about the airport.

Airlines & Terminals

The current terminal is comprised of four modules, named alphabetically, A.B,C and D. The airport serves a large variety of airlines such as (but not limited to): Air Berlin, Air Europa, Air Nostrum, British Airways, Easy Jet, Germania, Lufthansa, Norwegian Air Shuttle, RyanAir, SunExpress, Thomas Cook Airlines and Yakutia Airlines.

Directions & Transport

If you're returning a rental car to the airport from Palma, then you will need to use Ma-19, which is the main road in and out of the airport.

For a public transport option there are two different bus routes. The first is the route one, which stops outside both the departure and arrival terminals at the airport with the other stops being the city centre and the port. These run every 15 minutes and cost €3 for a one-way trip. The other option is route 21. This also stops outside both the arrivals and departure areas and then links up to several hotels along Palma beach. It also costs €3 for a one-way trip but runs every half an hour.

Making use of a taxi is also an option, but it should be noted that any service beginning or terminating at the airport incurs a €2.90 surcharge, and every piece of luggage costs €0.60.

Shopping & Duty-Free

After a touch of shopping before or after your flight? There are plenty of options in the Palma de Mallorca Airport. From scrumptious food treats found at the Chocolat Bank, to bestsellers from top product categories at Express Duty Free, to fashion and accessories in Big Apple, there really is anything that you could be after.
