Tunarama Festival - Port Lincoln

Beginning in 1952, the Port Lincoln Tunarama Festival has a long history of connecting the community over the Australia Day weekend, with food and wine, entertainment and the coveted Tuna Toss competition. The festival initially began as a way to support and educate people about Port Lincoln’s bustling tuna industry. Now, Tunarama is the longest running free festival in South Australia, providing entertainment for the community and visitors along the foreshore of Boston Bay.

One event not to miss is the annual World Championship Tuna Toss competition. An icon for the locals, competitors attempt to fling a fish weighing between eight and ten kilograms as far as they can. With sideshows and stalls, rides and competitions, there is something for everyone of any age.

Port Lincoln also has a variety of activities to try outside out the festival. For the more adventurous, there is an array of tours where you can swim with the local wildlife, including the Australian Sea Lions or the Southern Bluefin Tuna. There are also national parks, wine tasting, museums and the natural beauty of Port Lincoln.
