Founded in 1992, the Parkes Elvis Festival is held annually in the second week of January, to coincide with Elvis Presley’s birthday. Parkes is known as the ‘Elvis Capital of Australia’ for its Graceland themed restaurant and locals who live and breathe Elvis.
With over 150 individual events, there is something to be entertained by each day. With programs ranging from concerts, parades, dinners, breakfasts, dancing and busking, there is something to suit everyone. Parkes also has a lot of local attractions including the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope, which was the feature of the Australian film, The Dish and Peak Hill mine.
