Car Hire

Late and Early Returns

Returning Your Car

Each of our car hire providers have their own policies for late or early returns, please make sure to read through your providers terms and conditions and rental agreement. Breaches of the rental agreement for late returns can impact the next hire and are almost always subject to additional charges.

Late returns

You can expect an additional day to be charged if returning your vehicle after your selected return time, extra fees for administration charges or out of hours returns can also be charged. It is important when booking times and dates to give yourself enough time to return the vehicle to the depot to avoid these fees. If you decide you need extra time or will be late for your vehicle return, its best to contact the vehicle provider as soon as possible to check what the additional charges will be and so they can notify the depot of your new arrival time. When contacting the vehicle provider for amendments whilst on hire, its best to call the location you are returning the vehicle to. Contact details for the depot will be listed on your booking confirmation from DriveNow.

Early Returns

Returning a vehicle early is mostly the same process as returning late. You will still need to contact the depot to organise the new return date/time, and they will check to see if a refund can be provided or if an additional charge is required. The policies vary between vehicle providers but in general any changes to car hire bookings will update the total rental cost to the current rental rate if higher. Refunds for unused days are usually not provided by car hire providers.

For more specific details on the processes for Late and Early returns please refer to the terms and conditions listed on your booking confirmation.
