Pick-up checklist

1. Your physical driver's licence. It must be current and in your name. Every additional driver needs to bring their own licence. A digital licence may not be accepted. See driver's licence requirements.
2. An International Driving Permit or certified translation, if needed. If your licence isn't in English, bring an IDP or a certified English translation as well as your original licence.
3. A card in the driver's name. Rental companies generally need a physical credit card in the main driver's name to pay for the hire and cover the security bond. Some rental companies or locations accept Visa or Mastercard debit cards, and others don't. Check the card policies in the Important information on your quote. See making payment.
4. Your booking confirmation. Bring it printed or on your phone. It lets you check what is included in your booking if you need to.
5. Passport or other ID. You may need it to confirm your identity and to match the name on your card.
6. Your insurance policy, if you have one. If your travel insurance or a separate policy includes car hire excess cover, bring a copy. Counter staff usually offer more cover when you collect the car, and having your policy to hand helps you avoid paying for cover you already have.
