On and Off Airport
Car hire airport locations specify if they are “On-airport” or “Off-airport” underneath the brand name of the rental company on the search results page. Some airport depot locations are located off-airport to lower the price as additional taxes are usually charged to the vehicle provider for having a rental desk or vehicles located directly at the airport.
What does this mean?
On-Airport
The vehicle provider will have a rental desk directly at the airport to check-in for your car hire rental. The vehicle location will generally also be either directly at the airport or nearby. On-airport does not confirm the vehicle will be available directly from the airport terminal, check the locations collection process before booking as some on-airport locations may still require a shuttle or to make your own way to the vehicle collection area nearby to the airport.
Off-Airport
The vehicle provider will not have a rental desk directly at the airport. Whilst shuttles are generally provided to the depot, you may need to make your own way to the depot for check in and collection. Most of these locations are still nearby to the airport but may be in a neighbouring suburb. If you are collecting from an off-airport location, please check depot hours before booking to ensure you have enough time to make your way from the terminal to the depot for collection during their open hours.
