Your home on wheels can be known by the term campervan, motorhome, RV (recreational vehicle) or a 4 wheel drive camper when describing the vehicle. Whilst there are exceptions, a set of rule-of-thumb definitions could include:
Campervans – Typically the compact van style of vehicle, campervans come in many different shapes and sizes which includes mini vans that have been configured into a campervan. Campervans can accommodate 2 adults comfortably, 2 adults + 1 child or up to 4 adults in some Hi-Top models.
Motorhomes – Motorhome models are designed and configured to be spacious and offer the many comforts of home. Motorhomes will have a long-wheel base allowing the vehicle to be larger in size, giving you more room inside the vehicle, having walk-through access from the driver’s cabin into the main cabin area and the higher roof allows a plenty of head room.
Recreational Vehicles (RVs) – RV is a popular term used in North American to describe motorised vehicles used for camping and touring. Larger in size, a RV is your home on wheels with large living quarters and all of the mod-cons of home. Capable of towing a trailer or car behind it, a RV is suitable for the whole family and can accommodate up to 7 travellers. RV can be used to refer to campervans, motorhomes or 4WD campers.
4WD Campers – 4 wheel drive campervans are generally a 4WD diesel engine. Designed and built for the adventurous traveller, 4WD campers have the ability to take you offroad.
All drivers are required to hold a current, full, unrestricted driver’s licence valid for the entire period for which the vehicle is rented. If your drivers license is not in English, you will need an accredited English translation or an International Driver Permit in addition to your current license.
Please note a Digital Driver's Licence is not accepted. Probationary or restricted licences are not accepted.

Of course trying to cover everything to see and do in California in a few paragraphs is not possible but a few suggested highlights would include :
San Francisco is a city replete in natural and man-made elegance. Keep your camera handy - the Golden Gate Bridge is reputedly one of the most photographed monuments on Earth. This fine monument is perhaps the most famous of all bridges, it's soaring beams and tapestry of ropes combing for a quite breath-taking spectacle. Stretching for over 2.5 kilometres across the Bay, a staggering 120,000 vehicles cross the span every day, as well as countless pedestrians.
The word 'Alcatraz' alone summons the image of the famous island prison found in the middle of San Francisco. Notorious in the long-held belief that no inmate ever escaped its walls (or, at least, the swirling, sucking waters that surround 'The Rock') the prison today is a popular tourist attraction, and no visit to San Fran is complete without venturing there. Don't worry about encountering the United States' toughest criminals - the facility ceased use as a penitentiary in 1963.
By heading to North Beach, you may expect to find surf, sun and fun, but this area of the city isn't a beach at all. Instead, you'll find a warm array of intimate cafes, restaurants and locally-owned shops, alongside fine, ornate church of Saints Peter and Paul. By climbing Coit Tower, found on Telegraph Hill, you'll be privy to views of the city unrivalled anywhere else, as well enjoying hand-painted murals inside the building that show early San Francisco scenes.
The state of California itself is replete with things to see and do. Monterey is quite possibly the Golden State's most beautiful expanse of shimmering beach, so be sure to head that way in your motorhome in due course. The towering Pigeon Point Lighthouse, found roughly 75 kilometres south of San Francisco, offers panoramic views of the sprawling coastal scenery that lies beneath you like a map.
