Suitable Times for Drop Off

When Returning Your Campervan

This section provides advice on selecting a time to return your vehicle on the last day of your campervan rental

General Depot Hours

In Australia most campervan depots have limited open hours, generally these hours are between 9:00am to 3:30pm however it is always important to check this information prior to booking as each location will have varying open hours and days.

Do Selected Times Change the Price?

One important thing to note when booking Australian campervan hire is that you are paying per calendar day not per 24 hours. This means when you are selecting your times, they don’t need to match. You can select a pick up at 9:00am and a return at 3:00pm for the same number of rental days. Make sure you are making the most of your holiday time by checking the depot hours and selecting the best times for you!

Selecting a Drop Off Time

After selecting your vehicle, the next step is to organise your pick up and drop off times. This can be done in step 1 on the DriveNow booking request page. To check what times are available, simply click the drop down box next to the travel date, this will list all the times available to request. To check general depot open hours and the address for your selected location please click on “Show address”.

Are the Selected Times Locked In?

The times selected on the booking page will be sent to the vehicle provider as your preferred time. Some depot locations require an appointment to be made if you are returning on a particular day (Weekends/Public holidays), instructions will be listed on your booking confirmation if you are required to organise an appointment with the depot.

After Hours Drop Off

After-hours drop off is generally not available and is subject to the vehicle providers discretion. If you would like to request an after-hours drop off, we recommend checking if this is an option prior to booking.

Expert Tip

DriveNow recommend planning to arrive at the depot for the return of your vehicle 30 minutes – 1 hour prior to the depot close time and in some cases, this is a requirement of the vehicle provider. Planning for this extra time will help you avoid any delays due to traffic and avoid a Late Return, this also will allow time to check the vehicle, return the keys and lodge/check vehicle incident reports if anything happened during the hire.

If you lodged any vehicle incidents whilst on the road you may want to plan for extra time at the depot to discuss any Additional Charges or reports that need to be finalised with the staff.

If you are planning to travel directly to the airport after returning the vehicle, please make sure you plan for sufficient time for both the return of the vehicle and the travel to the airport. The distance between the depot and the airport will be listed on your booking confirmation in the “Drop-Off Details” area.
