Learn about the depot hours, how to schedule your pick-up, and what to expect when collecting your campervan
Generally you can pick-up anytime within the camper branch opening hours, as campervan rental is based on calendar days. The hours are usually 9.00am to 3.00pm, but it varies between different campervan providers and on the weekends and public holidays. To make the most of your holiday, pick up your rental early and drop it off just before they close, as you are paying for the entire day. The vehicle must be collected at the branch – there is no delivery option.
While you will want to make the most of your first day, the busiest time is between 9am and 10am, so if you pick-up during this time, there may be an extended wait time.
After choosing your vehicle on the DriveNow book page in “Step 1 - Confirm Booking Details”, you select your pick-up time from the drop-down arrow next to your pick-up date. To check opening hours and/or the branch address, please click on "+MORE – Show address" - all the information will be listed.
Some campervan providers require an appointment time to be organised and confirmed 2 days prior to your pick-up date. This can be done by calling the camper branch; their contact details can be found on your DriveNow booking confirmation under "Pick-Up Details". If you are running late for your scheduled time, we recommend a quick courtesy call to the branch advising them of your new estimated time of arrival to ensure the staff and vehicle are available to collect at your new arrival time.
Please allow 30 minutes to 1 hour for the check-in process. The staff at the branch will show you how to operate the vehicle and/or you will watch a show-through video on how to operate the vehicle. You will also need to inspect the vehicle and sign the rental agreement.
Make sure you check the vehicle for damage before you leave the camper branch and compare it to what has been noted on the Vehicle Condition Report in the Rental Agreement. Record any changes you wish to make on the Vehicle Condition Report/Rental Agreement in conjunction with a branch staff member. You are free to take any photos or videos of any damage if you want it for your records. Keeping the name of the branch staff member that assisted you helps with following up anything discussed on the collection day, but having the information written on the rental agreement is better.
There is no customer parking at the branch but there is usually a wide range of safe, secure, and affordable parking options around the branches.
If you are running late and you won’t make it to the camper branch until very close to or after closing time, call the campervan branch as soon as possible - the number is listed on your booking confirmation from DriveNow. You may have to pick up your vehicle on the next day. If you are unable to contact the campervan branch, please contact DriveNow so we can notify the campervan provider to keep your reservation and to update your pick-up time for the following day if need be. Note - there is no refunds for unused days.
If you need to pick up the vehicle the next day, you will need to make your own accommodation arrangements for the night. You will have to pay for any unexpected costs related to the overnight accommodation.
When you are booking, if you would like to pick up the campervan after-hours, please contact DriveNow and speak to one of our dedicated customer-service staff. It may be possible to pick-up after hours, but it is completely at the supplier’s discretion.
You will not be able to pick-up the campervan after hours if you have not organised for this at the time of booking. This is because the booking process will take a while to complete. All drivers must be present to sign the rental agreement, provide their driver’s licence, along with completing a vehicle inspection and to have a walk- around demonstration of the vehicle.
