Learn which charges for your rental will need to be paid at the branch when you collect your vehicle. Can extra rental items be added when I collect the vehicle? Read on to find out more
Accident Liability is the maximum dollar amount (cost) which you, as the hirer, are responsible to pay for any accident you have in the camper. Accident liability applies to each accident if you have more than one. This includes damage to the rental vehicle and any third-party property. Standard accident liability insurance is included in the daily vehicle hire rate.
You have the option of taking out additional insurance to reduce your accident liability (excess reduction) in the event of an accident. You can do this at the time of booking on our website, or when you check-in to pick up your vehicle – either online or in the camper branch before you sign the rental agreement.
If you do not select additional Accident Liability Insurance, you will have to pay a security deposit when you pick up the vehicle.
Please note, regardless of the accident liability option you select, there are some cases where the liability limit will not apply, and you may have to pay more in the event of an accident. These exclusions are listed in the rental agreement. You may also have to pay more if you breach the terms of the rental agreement, and this causes or contributes to any damage.
At the time of booking on our website, after you select your vehicle and proceed with the reservation (in Step 2 - Review Quote and Request Additional Options) you can choose the level of accident liability you would like to apply. If you are unsure about which selection to choose or if you have any questions, you can contact DriveNow by calling us on 1300 547 214 or +61 3 9095 7460 and one of our dedicated customer service staff can explain the different options.

If you do not select the additional Accident Liability Insurance (excess reduction), you will be asked to pay a security deposit when you pick up the vehicle. The cost can vary from AUD$500.00 to AUD$7,500.00 depending on the hire company and the vehicle hired. This bond must be paid with a valid Credit Card (some providers will allow a Debit Card) and the name on the card must be the booking holder. A card surcharge may apply.
The security deposit is refundable in full provided the campervan is returned undamaged, on time, to the correct location, in a clean condition and with a full fuel tank (petrol or diesel, depending on the vehicle) and a full gas bottle.
If you did not select excess reduction when you booked the vehicle, you can add it when you check-in to pick up your vehicle – either online or in the camper branch before you sign the rental agreement.
Please Note: the excess reduction cannot be added to your rental agreement once you are on the road.
Please take the time to read the Rental Agreement, which is the contract between you and the campervan provider. You need to understand and be familiar with the contents. DriveNow can provide you a copy before your pick-up day if you wish.
Each driver needs to present their full, valid driver’s license upon collection of the campervan (photocopies are not accepted) and all drivers are required to sign the rental agreement.
Make sure you check the vehicle for damage before you leave the camper branch, and compare it to what has been noted on the Vehicle Condition Report in the Rental Agreement. Record any changes you wish to make on the Vehicle Condition Report/Rental Agreement in conjunction with a branch staff member. You are free to take any photos or videos of any damage if you want it for your records. Keeping the name of the branch staff member that assisted you helps with following up anything discussed on the collection day, but having the information written on the rental agreement is better.
Your DriveNow reservation will have the listed optional items that you need to pay for when you pick-up the vehicle. These are the items which have not been paid for at the time of booking. You can remove or add extra hire items while you are at the camper branch - unless it is a compulsory fee such as a One Way Fee. With some suppliers, you can also make changes to these items before you arrive at the camper branch if you check-in online.
The following is a list of Pick-up items, including both optional & compulsory. Note : all items are not available with every provider.
You might encounter toll roads if you are driving through Metropolitan New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. Some providers have their vehicles registered for automatic tolling, which means you don’t need to do a thing. The campervan provider will pay any tolls you incur, and they will charge the card that is on file for your booking. Some providers will have these fees included in the vehicle hire rate. If you want to know if the toll charges are included or charged separately, please check your DriveNow Confirmation or ask the branch staff when you pick-up the vehicle.
