This guide outlines the steps for transferring from the airport to the campervan branch, handling potential flight delays, and ensuring timely vehicle pickup
If you are travelling by airline, once you collect your luggage, your next step is to pick up your camper. The campervan branch address and phone number will be located on your reservation confirmation or in a SMS text message from DriveNow.
As campervan companies in Australia do not offer a transfer or shuttle bus pick-up service, guests will need to make their own way to the campervan pick-up address. The quickest way to the branch would be travelling by Uber or local taxis. For a meet and greet service, you may book through a private transfer company.
It is recommended that you collect your campervan at least 2 hours prior to the branch closing time. The check-in process usually takes between 40 and 80 minutes depending upon the vehicle size.
The check-in process will involve inspecting the vehicle and reading and signing the rental agreement. You may be required to watch the campervan introductory instructional video. A staff member will then give you a vehicle walk-around demonstration where you will be shown the vehicle features, appliances, power outlets and how everything works.
If you experience flight delays on your arrival, it is important that you contact the campervan branch directly to make them aware of a possible new pick-up time. The branch phone number is listed on your booking confirmation from DriveNow.
If your flight has been delayed and you may reach the branch just before closing time, contact the branch to let them know you have landed. If you cannot get hold of the branch, please contact DriveNow so we can notify the campervan provider to keep your reservation.
If possible, one member of your travelling party should immediately take a taxi to the branch to start the check-in process. The remaining members of the group can collect all the luggage and then make their way to the branch.
If your flight cancellation means you cannot make it to the branch before closing time, you should contact the branch and let them know. If you cannot get hold of the branch, please contact DriveNow so we can notify the campervan provider to keep your reservation.
You will need to pick up the vehicle the next day and make your own accommodation arrangements for the night. You will have to pay for any unexpected costs related to the overnight accommodation. Also, there is no refund on the vehicle for unused days.
Campervan companies will not allow a guest to pick up after hours as all drivers must be present to sign the rental agreement, provide their driver’s licence, complete a vehicle inspection and to have a walk-around demonstration of the vehicle.
