What to Pack for Your Campervan Holiday

Before Picking Up Your Campervan

Having a campervan holiday adventure can be so much fun for the family.

Your campervan is your home on wheels, with many vehicles having all of the mod-cons and comforts of home. If you are travelling as a couple, with children or with the family pet, you will need to pack all the essentials.

What is Included with the Campervan?

Many of the campervans and motorhomes will be fully self-contained and will come with toilet and shower facilities, reverse cycle central-cabin air-conditioning and heating, hot and cold water, a fridge and freezer, a microwave, an LCD screen with a DVD player. Depending on the campervan you select, the vehicle may have basic features and may not have all the above items.

Your campervan will come fully equipped with bedding (sheets, doonas/duvets or blankets, pillows, and pillowcases), towels and kitchen equipment (cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils and cooking appliances). Some camper brands may provide outdoor chairs and picnic table.

Knowing the Weather, the Season and what Temperatures You can Expect

When packing clothing, you need to consider the season and your destination. Australia has many different regions and climates, from tropical areas with wet and dry seasons to more temperate regions with more pronounced summers and winters.

Even during the summer months, the evenings may be cool so make should you also pack for the evening time.

Travelling with Children

If you need to hire a stroller or pram, Hire for Baby can arrange items to be delivered to your holiday park location.

Can l Travel with my Family Pet?

You are welcome to travel with your beloved furry friend, comfort pet or service animal when hiring a campervan in brands Apollo, Britz, Cheapa Campa, Hippie Campers, Jucy Campers, Mighty and Star RV.

When picking up or dropping off your campervan, make sure your pet is secure on a lead and always supervised by an adult outside the branch building.

Do You Have any Tips for Day 1 in our Campervan?

Do a supermarket order online the night before you collect your vehicle and arrange the collection for a time after you collect your campervan. By doing this, you will save a lot of time and hassle, while being organised and prepared for the first couple of days of your holiday. Just remember to leave enough time for the camper pick-up.

What Should l Bring from Home?

For your comfort pack your condiments, oils, sugar, tea and coffee, daily medications, toiletries and don’t forget electrical power boards for charging devices.

For the outdoors, make sure you pack sun block, sun hats, sunglasses, insect repellent, torch, thin quick drying beach towels, first aid kit, boogie boards, fishing rods and tackle.
