Mobility Restricted Speciality Vehicles

Do you offer campervans that can accommodate travellers with mobility restrictions?

The rental companies we work with don't have vehicles specially adapted for travellers with mobility restrictions. None of their vehicles have ramps or lifts.

DriveNow is an online comparison website where you can view, compare and book campervans, motorhomes, RVs and 4WD campers. We don't have vehicles of our own, but we partner with all the major campervan and motorhome brands in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.

Do you know any Australian company that does speciality campervans?

Wheelie Campers offers wheelchair-accessible campervans in Australia. Its vehicles let the wheelchair user ride in the front passenger seat. Contact Wheelie Campers directly to confirm their current vehicles and locations.

How can I tell if a campsite is accessible?

An accessible campsite lets people with limited mobility enjoy their campervan holiday. Check whether a campsite meets these requirements:

• Important facilities, such as reception, supermarkets or restaurants, are designed to be accessible. For example, entrances should have ramps and doors wide enough for a wheelchair.
• Paths between facilities should be wheelchair-accessible and as direct and flat as possible.
• Facilities with steps should also have a ramp or lift.
• Parking or pitches are adapted for campers with disabilities.
• Facilities should be easy to access, including inside them, for example in restaurants.
• Sanitary facilities should be adapted for wheelchair access. They should be level, have enough space and be equipped with grab rails or bars.
• Comfort and communal facilities, such as swimming pools, saunas or wellness areas, should be accessible.
