Group bookings

Travelling in a convoy of campervans is a great way to see Australia with friends and family. Larger groups may need more than one vehicle. Each vehicle needs its own main driver, and some rental companies apply different terms to groups. This guide covers how to plan and book together.

Will I need multiple vehicles?

In Australia, the largest hire motorhomes carry no more than 6 travellers, and most are usually recommended for 4 adults and 2 children. All passengers must wear a seat belt while driving, so if you're travelling with more than 6 people, you may need to hire more than one vehicle. If you're travelling with more than 2 young children, you may also need more child-seat anchor points than one vehicle has.

How to book

To start a group booking, call our reservations team on 1300 547 214 or +61 3 9095 7460, or email savemore@drivenow.com.au, for vehicle recommendations. You can also search on our campervan search page. Use our live chat if you have questions or want vehicle recommendations while you search online.

Once you've chosen your group's vehicles, email our reservations team with your preferences. We can then check availability and put vehicles on hold while you finalise plans with the rest of your group.

To confirm the bookings, you'll need:

• the full name and contact details of the main driver of each vehicle
• payment details for the deposit or the full balance.

You can't make the bookings under one name. The name on each booking must match the driver on the rental agreement.

What to look out for

Tell us before you book if your group needs 3 or more vehicles, as some rental companies apply different terms and conditions to groups. These vary between companies, but can include different cancellation periods, deposits and pick-up arrangements.

Rental companies also have depot capacity limits throughout the year. These may mean a group booking is declined even when vehicles show as available online.
