Choosing a vehicle that meets your comfort expectations and needs can really enhance your holiday experience. This guide highlights some things to consider in making your choice.

6 Berth Motorhome

A 6-berth motorhome can accommodate a maximum of 6 travellers. Each 6-berth vehicle has 6 seat belts and bedding to sleep 6 guests. These vehicles will have 3 double beds, 2 of these beds will be in the main cabin area on the ground floor, the 3rd bed is above the driver's cabin in the loft.

6 berth motorhomes will be fully self-contained, come with toilet and shower facilities, have reverse cycle central cabin air-conditioning and heating, hot and cold water, full reverse cycle central cabin air-conditioning, LCD screen with DVD player. The fridge/freezer size ranges from 130 to 188 litres and will operate when plugged into a 240v mains powered site.

Your motorhome will come fully equipped with living equipment (sheets, duvets or blankets, pillows, pillowcases, towels), kitchen equipment (cutlery, crockery, cooking utensils, cooking equipment) and some brands may include outdoor chairs and picnic table.

When plugged into a 240v mains powered site, you can operate the climate control air-conditioning in the main cabin area. If you are not plugged into a powered site, the main cabin air-conditioning can only operate if the vehicle’s engine is running.

All 6 berth motorhomes in Australia will come with automatic transmission. Most 6 berths will have 2 anchor points for child seats or booster seats.

4 Berth Motorhome

Your 4-berth motorhome has 4 seat belts and can sleep 4 travellers. If you are travelling as 4 adults, keep in mind that the 2nd bed will be above the driver's cabin in the loft area and the guests will need to climb up a ladder to get into bed, which may not be suitable for elderly guests.

All 4 berth motorhomes in Australia will come with automatic transmission. Look for the ‘A’ automatic icon in the vehicle description. 4 berths will accommodate 2 child seats or 2 booster seats.

2 Berth Campervan

A 2-berth campervan can sleep 2 people, and the vehicle will have 2 seat belts, therefore the vehicle can only accommodate 2 travellers. 2 berth campervans will have a double bed which converts into your dining table seating area.

2+1 berth campervans with offer a double bed and a single bed, the 3rd seat which is behind the driver’s seat makes up into a single bed. This single bed is suitable for a child or teenager, as it is shorter in length.

The advantages of having a 2-berth campervan with toilet & shower, the vehicle will have central cabin air-conditioning which you can operate when plugged into a powered site. Running the heating or cooling throughout the day or overnight can make it more comfortable during the hot days of summer or the cold nights of winter.

Campervans without the central cabin air-conditioning feature will only have air-conditioning from the driver's dashboard when the engine is running.

Most campervans will come with automatic transmission, some older models may have manual transmission. Look for the ‘A’ automatic icon and the ‘M’ manual icon in the vehicle description.

The fridge size in 2 berths range from 70 to 130 litres depending on the model.
