Apps for Planning and Travel

Before You Book

From campsites to hotels, tourist bodies, fuelling stations etc, there's a range of apps available for planning and while on the road. Here's some we've come across and even used ourselves.

Travel Apps

With technology at your fingertips 24/7, travel apps are incredibly convenient for planning and managing your holiday. There are many travel apps available that allow you instant access to review, compare and book for so many different parts of your holiday.

Do Campervan Companies Have their own Travel App?

If you are travelling with the campervan brands Apollo, Britz, Cheapa Campa, Hippie Campers, Maui, Maui Elite or Mighty Campers, the THL Roadtrip App is available for you and free to download from Google Play or Apple App Store.

The THL RoadTrip App is your go-to before you travel and while you're on the road. Access handy tips from planning and preparation, what to expect at pick-up, a full show-through video of the camper you have booked and comprehensive on-the-road Camper Help ‘how to’ videos.

The THL Roadtrip App also displays your current GPS location and then shows the nearest campsite and holiday parks, (free and paid), petrol station, free Wi-Fi, real-time road alerts, supermarkets, dump stations, public toilets, LPG filling stations, laundromats and in fact pretty much everything you need when you're on the road in Australia.

Other Helpful Travel Apps

Google Maps

Not only does Google Maps provide much needed driving directions, it’s also a great resource for finding nearby restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations and sights. With a good number of reviews from both locals and tourists, you’re more likely to find local gems this way.

Fuel Watch

This is the easy way to find cheap fuel near you. Track down the cheapest petrol option with the journey planning Petrol Spy Australia or Fuel Map Australia.

Weather

Weather apps will keep you informed about real-time conditions and warnings including temperature, rain, snow, and wind.

Holiday parks

Search, compare and book your campervan into holiday parks wide with ease.

Parking

Parking apps will help you locate the closest parking spot to your destination, and detail whether there are parking bays available. They allow you to make secure, cashless and contactless payment for the parking.

Digital Wallet

Carrying cash while traveling may not always be a good idea considering the exchange hassle and of course, the possibility of theft or losing your luggage or wallet.

Security may be a concern for you with online transactions, but all mobile app development companies are using the latest encryption technology for encrypting information to prevent your information being hacked.

Scanner Pro

Scanner Pro makes it easy to convert your paperwork into electronic files by using your mobile phone to scan documents. This allows you to have an electronic file of your important travel documents. It’s also a great way to collect and store your receipts for your personal record keeping.

Currency Converter

No need to pack your calculator, your currency converter app will make converting and comparing prices simple.

Hot spot

A portable mobile hotspot can help you connect to the internet without having to rely on a public Wi-Fi network. A Mobile Hotspot lets you share your network connection with other devices so they can access the internet. Devices connect to your Mobile Hotspot using Wi-Fi.

Camping

Find the best camping locations or free campsites with your camping app.

Surf Watch

For the surfer searching for the best waves, the Surf Watch will give you a real-time update on the surf breaks and weather conditions.

Tides

Track the high and the low tides - a tide app is an important tool for any keen fisherman.

Trip Advisor

You won’t miss any travel highlights with TripAdvisor’s list of top sights in every city in the world. It contains extensive reviews from travellers from all around the world. It is not just for attractions but includes hotels and restaurants and just about any travel related business.

However, if you’re looking for hidden gems or off-the-beaten path surprises, this may not be the best resource as it only captures very popular places and attractions.

Google Translate

When travelling internationally, Google Translate can come in very handy when you need some language assistance.
