The complete road-trip guide to eating your way around the state

Western Australia really knows how to put on a feast. If you're planning a campervan road trip in 2026, you’re in luck — the festival calendar is packed with cherries, crabs, long-table lunches, truffles, seafood, fire-lit winter banquets and everything in between.

To save you scrolling through clunky blocks of text, here’s a clean, at-a-glance guide to the major WA food and wine festivals in 2026, including dates, regions and a taste of why each one is worth building into your DriveNow campervan holiday.  There are links directly to the individual websites so if you are reading this in 2027,  the links will give you up to date information.

Taste Great Southern

📍 Albany, Denmark & Stirling Ranges
📅 5–8 March 2026

A four-day celebration of cool-climate wine, paddock-to-plate dining and local stories. With more than 20 curated events, you’ll find everything from Peak-to-Plate hikes to Riesling masterclasses and cultural events like Kaarl Waangkaninj Merenj – Fire, Yarns and Food.

Perfect if you’re already road-tripping through the South Coast or want to mix great wine with rugged coastline.

Mandurah Crab Fest

📍 Mandurah
📅 14 - 15th March

WA’s biggest free seafood festival draws thousands for crab tastings, cooking demos, fireworks and family-friendly activities. Only an hour south of Perth, it’s an easy addition to any southwest campervan loop.

Karijini Experience

📍 Karijini National Park
📅 10–13 April 2026

Set in one of Australia’s most dramatic national parks, this festival celebrates Banjima culture through music, storytelling, food and art. It’s a rare chance to experience Country through the eyes of its Traditional Owners — and it’s hard to imagine a more powerful setting for it.

Shore Leave Festival

📍 Geraldton, Coral Coast
This is a regular,  very popular festival that is not proceeding in 2026.   But I have left it in as a regular event so you can check for future dates in 2027 and beyond

Seafood lovers, this one’s for you. Expect ocean-fresh produce, paddock-to-plate dining and Geraldton’s famous Abrolhos Long Table Lunch. Iconic events sell out fast, but you can still wander through the Helm or Beach Price markets for bites straight from the coast.

Truffle Kerfuffle

📍 Manjimup, Southern Forests
📅 Late June 2026 (season-opening weekend)

If the smell of truffle sends you weak at the knees, this is your moment. This cosy winter festival kicks off truffle season with long-table lunches, chef demos, wine pairings and the adorable crowd favourite — truffle dog hunts. Subscribe to their newsletter to get updates on exact times and events.

Cabin Fever Festival

📍 Margaret River Region
📅 July 2026 (10-day festival, exact dates TBC)  Check the link for updates

A winter wonderland for food lovers. Picture roaring fire pits, comfort food banquets, wine sessions, mulled everything and cosy nights tucked away in the forest. It’s Margaret River at its snuggly best.

Gascoyne Food Festival

📍 Gascoyne, Coral Coast & Golden Outback
📅 26 July - 31st August 2026

This region-wide festival is huge — you’ll find events stretching from Carnarvon to Exmouth and even inland to Mount Augustus. Expect tropical fruit, seafood, cattle-station produce and plenty of warm outback hospitality. - Buy tickets before you travel for anything in particular you really don't want to miss out on.

Taste of the Kimberley

📍 Kununurra, East Kimberley
📅 14–16 August 2026

A vibrant celebration of Miriwoong culture, Kimberley flavours and the region’s incredible landscape. Enjoy traditional food, music, art and storytelling — and maybe book a scenic flight while you’re up here.

Shinju Matsuri

📍 Broome, Kimberley
📅 21 August – 6 September 2026

Broome’s famous 16-day pearl festival blends Asian, Indigenous and Australian cultures through food, art, history and iconic events like the Sunset Long Table Dinner and Chinatown Feast.

Manjimup Cherry Harmony Festival

📍 Manjimup, Southern Forests
📅 Second Saturday of December 2026 - check the link for updates

A wholesome, cherry-themed celebration of the Southern Forests region. Expect street parades, markets, live music, and long-table dinners celebrating the region’s famous produce. Yes — you will eat your weight in cherries.
