Visit the city of sails for the Americas Cup

The Americas Cup race is kicking off in the states, but if you're in New Zealand you can still experience some of the action!

Over the next couple of months the yachting regatta will see the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America's Cup competitions heat up in San Francisco with the final race off in September, however a little piece the cup history will always belong to New Zealand.

So when you pick up your rental car you might like to consider heading down to the waterfront to experience some of the sailing for yourself.

In 1995 the Kiwi team blitzed the field of competitors to bring the cup back into the South Hemisphere for the first time in a long time. Led by Sir Peter Blake and Russell Coutts, the team have gone down in history as the crew that brought sailing success to New Zealand waters, especially when they won it again in 2000.

These days, Auckland is known as the city of sails. It's not hard to see why when you drive into the city, as there are ocean views in almost every direction and every shoreline is dotted with masts and hulls.
