Once famously labelled as "the coolest little capital in the world" by Lonely Planet, Wellington also has a reputation for being a pretty loud city.

Whether it's the heated parliamentary discussions at the Beehive or the roaring winds that batter the region, Wellingtonians are constantly in search of something a bit more soothing.Luckily, if you're visiting the capital towards the end of the month, you'll be able to treat your ears to a series of fantastic music events.

There's an eclectic range of musical performances taking place over the next couple of weeks, whether it's orchestra or kiwi reggae you're into.

Book in your car rental for Wellington and nab your tickets to one of these events today!

NZSO National Youth Orchestra

Want to witness what New Zealand's most talented young musicians have to offer?

Head on down to the Michael Fowler Centre on August 30 and let the country's brightest up-and-coming maestros take your breath away.

They will perform classic pieces by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, as well as the latest works from their Composer in Residence.

New Zealand's very own reggae band is back in the country to delight home fans with their The Best So Far tour.

Having been key figures in the New Zealand music scene for the best part of a decade, they have enjoyed touring success around the globe and are keen to remind Kiwis why they've been so successful.

They will perform both classics and new songs at the James Cabaret on August 30.

NZTrio aren't your normal classical music group.

The three Kiwis boast a wealth of talent and experience with their respective instruments, and imbue the work of leading New Zealand composers with their own unique styles.

Justine, Ashley and Sarah will be at the City Gallery on August 27 to redefine any notions of 'boring' classical music you may have.
