Any time is a great time to visit Phillip Island in the southern part of Victoria, but with the 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championships in town it's better than ever.

Australia will once again launch the 2020 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship, with the Yamaha Finance Round at Phillip Island to be held from Friday February 28 to Sunday March 1, 2020, so grab your Melbourne car hire and head to this underrated little part of the planet and explore.

The event will set a new record being the 30th round to be held at Victoria’s world-acclaimed Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. No other circuit on the global tour has hosted as many rounds with riders, teams and fans flocking for three decades to the sweeping turns and thrillingly fast 4.445 km circuit that borders the stunning ocean vista of Bass Strait. Here are some Phillip Island recommendations.

Antarctic Journey at The Nobbies

A virtual journey is the cool experience here at Phillip Island's exciting Antarctic Journey at the Nobbies, a joint venture between WWF and Phillip Island Nature Parks. Enjoy the ‘hands-on’ fun and interactive experiences in The Lab. Feel the freeze in the Antarctic Chill Zone then "compare your thermal image with an Emperor penguin. Visit the Research Station and Sound Lab, check out the sustainable menu in the virtual café, or maybe try and sink a bowling ball" plus loads more.

Pannys Phillip Island Chocolate Factory

Chocolate lovers rejoice! And fans of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory style fun and games and interesting bibs and bobs. Pannys makes the finest and most delectable treats, with more than 190 different varieties. Naturally dominated by chocolate, but also including such delectable's as a choc dipped bananas, rocky roads, Turkish delight and ginger. Entry to the cafe and factory direct retail store is free, as too is your first sample. Admission charges apply for Pannys Amazing World of Chocolate attraction.

National Vietnam Veterans Museum

The National Vietnam Veterans Museum is a fantastic creation for those who want to pay their respects. The NVVM seeks to remember, interpret and understand the experience of the veterans of the Vietnam conflict and the enduring impact of the war on society. The museum is home to a huge collection of artefacts interpreted with information, imagery and audio visual devices that will keep you engaged.

Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre

Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Visitor Centre is an action packed adventure, providing you with a chance to experience the venue in your own amateur ways (but feel like a pro!). Try the Sodi RT8 Go Karts on the 750 metre scale replica of the Grand Prix Circuit. With individual lap time print-outs, you can challenge yourself against the clock and take away a record of your performance. Tandem karts are also available. Buckle in for the real deal; an adrenaline-amping triple Hot Lap lightning ride around the Phillip Island Circuit.

Penguin Parade

Particularly if this is your first visit to the island, you simply have to check out the mighty Penguin Parade, something quite unique when it comes to wildlife on our beautiful planet and something Phillip Island certainly is famous for. The daily parade of little penguins draws thousands of visitors from around the globe every year. Line the observation boardwalks at Phillip Island Nature Park at dusk to see them race up Summerland Beach to their burrows. Bring warm clothing year-round, as the nights on the beach can be cool.
