Perth to Broome Road Trip: Days 4–6 — Kalbarri, Denham & Coral Bay

🚚 Day 4: Kalbarri → Denham

📍 ~395 km ⏱️ ~4 hrs 30 mins

• Enjoy breakfast in town and stock up on supplies before a longer drive today.
• Head north along the North West Coastal Highway.
• Option to visit the Kalbarri Skywalk early if you didn’t the day before.

• Stretch your legs at Billabong Roadhouse (~1.5 hours into the drive).
• Stop at Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station and the stromatolites boardwalk — fascinating ancient marine life.
• View Shell Beach — a beautiful shoreline made entirely of tiny white cockle shells.
• Wildflowers 🌸 may be visible roadside if you’re travelling between July and October.

• Check in to a holiday park in Denham.
• Visit the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre.
• Walk along the Denham foreshore and enjoy the seaside vibe.

• Denham Seaside Caravan Park — oceanfront powered sites, modern amenities and a great location.

• Shark Bay Hotel — Australia’s most westerly hotel; casual pub meals and a cold drink.
• The Old Pearler Restaurant — local seafood in a building made of coquina shell bricks.

🚚 Day 5: Denham & Surrounds

🚗 No driving 📍 Local exploration

No driving today — a relaxed day exploring in and around Denham and Shark Bay.

• Head to Monkey Mia early to see the famous wild dolphin interactions.
• Rangers offer informative talks about the dolphins and the Shark Bay ecosystem.
• Let some air out of your tyres and head into Francois Peron National Park. If you’re not in a 4WD camper, you’ll need to take a guided tour.

• Visit the Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre — excellent exhibits on local history, wildlife and UNESCO status.
• Check out Little Lagoon — great for a paddle and a picnic.
• Drive to Eagle Bluff Lookout — dramatic cliffs with views over the bay and marine life in the shallows.

• Denham Seaside Tourist Village — beachfront powered sites, great amenities, walking distance to town.
• RAC Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort — powered campervan sites if you want to be closer to the dolphins.

• The Old Pearler Restaurant — cosy limestone building known for fresh seafood and pasta.
• Shark Bay Hotel — a more casual Aussie pub experience with bay views.

🚚 Day 6: Denham → Coral Bay

📍 ~580 km ⏱️ ~6 hrs 30 mins

• Early start for a full day of travel heading north toward Coral Bay.
• Refuel in Denham before departure — services are limited en route.
• Drive through outback landscapes with changing colours and the occasional wildlife sighting.

• A great place to stretch your legs and grab supplies or lunch.
• Fascine waterfront — ideal for a quick break with a view.
• One Mile Jetty Interpretive Centre — learn about the town’s maritime and space-tracking history, then dig into Carnarvon’s little-known space story at the Space and Technology Museum.
• Carnarvon Fruit Loop Drive Trail — check out seasonal produce like bananas and mangoes if time permits.

• Check into your holiday park or campground and enjoy a relaxed evening by the beach.
• Take a sunset stroll along Bill’s Bay — one of WA’s most beautiful marine views.
• Snorkel straight off the beach if time permits — Coral Bay’s Ningaloo Reef is accessible from the shore.
