Climb Mount Victoria At nearly 200 metres tall, Mount Victoria is far from being New Zealand’s highest peak. However, it definitely offers some of the best views in the country. With 360 degree views of Wellington harbour and the CBD, it's a climb you're bound to enjoy.

Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa This museum showcases the best of New Zealand’s history, art and Maori culture. ‘Te Papa Tongarewa’ translates into ‘container of treasures’ and under Te Papa’s roof is six floors of cultural treasures and interactive displaces. With free entry, it’s a wonderful destination for the family, and it also educates and entertains visitors.

Ride the historical Cable Car Step on board this iconic Wellington attraction. The cable car runs from Lambton Quay to the top of Kelburn, offering amazing views the entire way. You’ll also come across the Space Place at Carter Observatory, which showcases interactive displays. Best of all, is the historic telescopes and the digital planetarium, which you can explore.

Lord of the Rings tour From Wellington, you can join tours which take you to some of the locations made famous by Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings. Journey through the scenic countryside, which would be more familiar to LOTR fans as Middle Earth. You’ll also tour the Weta Studios, where you’ll learn about the movie’s production and behind-the-scenes stories.

Visit Oriental Bay When in Wellington, one must spend some time along the city’s waterfront. Relax on the shore or venture along the boardwalk. There are many cafes, parks and bars dotted along the shore. On weekends, crowds flock to the area to browse market stalls. It’s a busy part of Wellington, but also very relaxing.
