Aucklanders convene on this popular spot at all times of the year, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the city’s favourite beaches.
With a splendid view of Rangitoto Island on one side and a range of fantastic restaurants, bars and cafes on the other, it’s a great place to enjoy a bite and a drink after going for a dip in the water.
Its handy location less than 15 minutes away from the CBD means that you’ll have no problem finding it with your car hire.
In the upper reaches of Auckland’s North Shore lies Long Bay Regional Park, and you’ll understand how it got its name once you get there.
The park offers a vast stretch of sand and surf that represents one of the longest beaches in central Auckland.
Even in the peak of summer, there’s plenty of room for everyone to kick a ball around and enjoy a barbecue!
You’ll need to hop on a ferry to get to Oneroa, the main beach on Waiheke Island, but it’s well worth the trip.
Tucked away next to the island’s main township and surrounded by plenty of natural reserve, it’s a great place to unwind while enjoying some of Auckland’s best natural views.
