Meanwhile, the whole family can chill out at Calypso Beach, a shady beach retreat where you can either laze in the sub-tropical gardens or lie back on a soft tube as the slow-flowing river takes you past a ruined pirate castle or past a Caribbean shanty town. Delivering a consistent one metre swell, budding body-surfers can hit the waves; or hire an inflatable tube from the Beach Hut and ride your way back into shore. Every Saturday from September till April, and every night from December 27 to January 25, Wet’n’Wild presents Dive’n’Movies, where you can catch new release blockbusters from the comfort of a deckchair or an inflatable tube. This is an awesome cinematic experience, the ultimate in relaxation and summer decadence. Sunday is party time at Wet’n’Wild, with the Coast’s hottest DJs pumping up the music in the Sunday Sessions. While the teenagers are screaming their heads off in the Extreme H2O Zone, littlies can splash and play at Buccaneer Bay, a fantasy aquatic playground restricted to children 10 years and under. The cool and colour kids’ zone has a pirate theme, with plenty of interactive elements to keep them amused for hours. The highlight is a giant tipping bucket that spills litres of water onto those waiting below in breathless anticipation.
