Warner Bros. Movie World Theme Park Rides
Bigger, faster and more exciting – that’s what makes Warner Bros. Movie World so appealing to thrill-seekers, offering some of the most extreme rides in the southern hemisphere.
Heading the list is Superman Escape, an extreme rollercoaster experience that propels you from a standstill to 100 kilometres per hour in a face-flattening two seconds – literally, as fast as a speeding bullet! And the thrills just keep on coming – vertical climbs, sheer drops, 360 degree loops and giant G-force turns, so severe you can barely hear yourself scream. It’s the ultimate thrill ride, oodles of fun and knee-knockingly terrifying which will
have you begging for more at the end.
The newest ride at Movie World is Batwing Spaceshot, a pneumatic vertical launch up a 60 metre tower at a force of 4.5Gs, followed by a lightning freefall, guaranteed to make your stomach drop to your toes. Not a ride for everyone, but a 50 second thrill just the same.
The screams continue on Lethal Weapon, a twisting, sidewinding, body-wrenching rollercoaster that travels through five complete loops at a speed of 85 km an hour with a force of 4Gs. This ride can be quite confronting, as your upper body is constricted into a solid harness, leaving your legs dangling free and at times whizzing above your head!
A little tamer but perhaps more suited to younger thrill-seekers is the Scooby-Doo Spooky Coaster, the most popular ride at Movie World. This indoor rollercoaster inspired by the feature film shot at the Warner Roadshow Movie World Studios on the Gold Coast takes you through a haunted castle complete with ghosts, ghouls and talking suits of armour created by laser lighting, animatronics and sound effects.
If you don’t like getting wet, then The Wild West Falls Adventure Ride isn’t for you. But if you don’t mind a bit of a soaking, this six-minute flume log ride is a blast, with plenty of thrills and screams. Recreating the Wild West experience from the Will Smith feature film, you travel past wagon trains, Indian reservations and through ghost towns before entering a gold mine that’s about to blow. The final plummet down a 20-metre mountain is the highlight of the ride – try and score a seat at the very front for the ultimate thrill.
Batman Adventure – the Ride 2 is the second incarnation of the Batman experience, an upgraded version of the original ride that opened in 1992. Entering into the Wayne Manor, riders emerge into the Batcave where they embark on a chase through the streets of Gotham City, as Batman and Batgirl try to escape the evil clutches of The Joker, Catwoman and Mr Freeze. This virtual cinematic experience, created by advanced computer technology, gives the sensation of free flight, with every turn and lurch felt right through your bones.
