Maui Motorhomes Rental Insurance Options

Maui offer a number of different options to raise your level of insurance and reduce your excess liability in the event of an accident.

Your rental fees include Standard Insurance Protection which requires a bond of AU$7500 and will be debited to your credit card on picking up the vehicle from Maui. This bond is credited back to your card on return of the vehicle subject to any damage.

Note that only the Hirer's credit card is acceptable for the bond. All bonds are subject to a non-refundable administration fee of 2% for Visa and MasterCard and 4.5% for American Express. For overseas visitors please be aware that due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be some variances in the amount refunded. Maui does not accept liability for variances either up or down.

Remember to check that there are no daily withdrawal restrictions on your card that may prevent the bond being debited.

All bonds are payable directly to Maui. DriveNow does not collect bonds nor charge Credit Card surcharge fees on any booking.

Maui Insurance Options - 01 April 2009 to 31 March 2010

Maui provide 2 packages to reduce your insurance excess liability:

Excess Reduction Option 1

• 2WD* – AU$22 per day (maximum charge of AU$1100)
• 4WD  – AU$27 per day (maximum charge of AU$1350)

The excess is reduced to $2500, which is held as your Vehicle Security Deposit. This amount will be debited to your credit card.

Excess Reduction Option 2

• 2WD* - AU$40 per day (maximum charge of AU$2000)
• 4WD  - AU$49 per day (maximum charge of AU$2450)

* The majority of the Maui Motorhome fleet are 2 Wheel Drive.

The excess is reduced to Nil for 2 Wheel Drive vehicles and $440 for 4 Wheel Drives. A Vehicle Security Deposit of $220 (2WD) or $440 (4WD) is recorded as an imprint against your credit card when the vehicle is collected. Excess Reduction Option 2 is included in the Maui Premium Package.

No Worries Cover

An addition to Excess Reduction Option 2, this one-off payment of AU$50 for 2WD and AU$120 for 4WD covers you for accidental overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle. Please note that overhead and underbody damage cover is excluded unless the No Worries Cover option has been purchased.
