Nine reasons why you should get lost and go camping in New South Wales this winter

OVER the winter months, campsites and holiday parks across New South Wales are less busy with some offering visitors the chance to build a campfire, access to superb surf breaks (winter offers some of the best surf conditions along the east coast) and is the ideal time for bushwalking with warm days and cool nights.

Looking for some new camping experiences in NSW? We've talked to the crew at Destination NSW and found some beauties for when you hit the road in your hire car from Sydney this winter.

Warrawong On The Darling offers a new camping experience on the Darling River near Wilcannia. Includes 1700 acres of working farm land, 12km of Darling River frontage, a beautiful large natural lagoon on property, brand new high-spec amenities block, laundry facilities, camp kitchen and BBQ areas, large grassy powered and unpowered caravan sites (water frontage) and endless natural, secluded camp sites on the river or lagoon.

Tathra Beach Family Park - Glamping on the beautiful Sapphire Coast has arrived. This family park's beachfront safari tents provide the fun experience of camping with the added bonus of the little luxuries that come with being self-contained and is only steps from the pristine Tathra beach.

BIG4 Solitary Islands Marine Resort - This Wooli park just joined the BIG4 group. They have also just installed a Play Active interactive playground which offers 360-degrees of head-spinning, body-twisting, heart-pounding competitive fun, combining the speed and fun of electronic games with the explosive movement of aerobic exercise to create an exciting playground attraction for all ages.

North Coast Holiday Parks, Bonny Hills in the Greater Port Macquarie region has recently undergone a multimillion dollar facelift with stunning results. Including new beach tents, new camp kitchen, spacious Beach Cabins.

Nambucca River Tourist Park has undergone a massive refurbishment with a new pool, kid’s water playground, giant chess board, jumping mat, fabulous new Camp Kitchen with excellent facilities, and upgrading of existing cabins and construction of new top of the range.

North Coast Holiday Parks Beachfront has new mini golf which recorded more than 2000 games over the summer holidays.

Kings Creek Retreat have new teepees, eco tents and bunk houses.

Aranyani Bison Farm has four tipis and they are very really cool.

Suffolk Beach Front has new safari style camping tents.
