Weathermen were redundant for our week in Port Douglas. I mean, how difficult can it be to forecast blue skies and 30 degrees? Sheer and utter bliss. For that’s the only way to describe our week in September up North.
Departing a grey overcast Melbourne and with the obligatory (and brief) Sydney stop-over we arrived into Cairns to find the airport in a somewhat chaotic state with extensive renovations underway. To be fair looking at the impressive Qantas check-in area the chaos will be worth enduring.

Petrol or diesel? It’s a common question when people look to update their car.
Unfortunately, the answer isn’t straightforward. It depends on individual needs – and what sort of impact you want to make on the environment and public health.

After leaving behind an awesome time “Fossicking”, and finding a truck-load of great gem stones, we headed further north to Armidale.
This place is so cold, I can honestly say I have never experienced living in such a chilly town! One morning we actually got down to minus 7! But in saying that, Armidale is a great town and full of surprises.
We met up with a guy affectionately known as “The Arrowcatcher” (Anthony Kelly). He is world famous for his amazing reflexes. His partner fires very sharp arrows and he catches them with his bare hands!

They don’t build ’em like they used to. That’s how old cars are generally described. Tough as nails, made of steel. New cars just fall apart in a crash, so the saying goes.
But contrary to perception, there is a very good reason new cars deform more readily in a crash: it can save your life.
Consider this: when an old car has a front end crash, the structure won’t be crushed as much as a modern car’s would, which means the occupants experience a more sudden rate of deceleration, and potentially more life threatening injuries.
