Fuel prices in Australia do fluctuate depending up location, especially in the country. You will notice that prices change during the week and around popular holiday time such as Christmas and the Easter break.
Queensland fuel is around $0.10 cheaper per litre due to local state tax concessions. Expect to pay more for fuel in remote locations. If you plan to travel in remote areas it is advisable to keep you fuel tanks
topped up as frequently as is possible (the same principle applies to water supplies as well especially in remote areas).

All Apollo vehicles come equipped with complimentary living equipment. There are some variations depending upon the features of the rental vehicle,
however in essence you can expect the following:
- Apollo Pack: matches, mini shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, sponge & soap, salt
& pepper, coffee, tea and sugar sachets.
- Kitchen: Plates & Bowls, Cups & glasses, Cutlery, Bottle/Can opener, cooking utensils,
pans & Frying pan, Kettle and tea towels
- Living: Dustpan & brush, Bucket & plastic containers, clothes
line and pegs, road maps and vehicle & camper ground guides
- Bedding: Pillows, sheets, Sleeping bags or duvets, bathroom towels.
There are optional extras available from Backpacker Rentals including the
following, generally charged on a per rental basis these include:
- Outdoor Table ($20)
- Outdoor Chair ($15)
- Fist Aid Kit ($50 if used)
- baby/Booster Seats ($20)
Gas bottles are supplied full and can be returned empty, however a service fee
is payable on pick up of your vehicle:
- $15 - Cheapa Campa, Hitop Campervans, Euro Tourer and Adventure Camper
- $30 - 3, 4 and 6 berth Motorhomes
- The excess insurance reduction options are highly recommended for peace
of mind in the event of an accident. These vary starting from $20 per day, full
details available during the selection and booking process.
- A Bond is required on any vehicle hired at pick up. If paid by Credit Card this will be debited and reimbursed on return of the vehicle. The Bond reflects
(and is reduced by) the insurance excess option taken. If no excess option is taken a bond of $7500 is required. Bonds are deposited directly with the vehicle supplier.
- Bonds are payable directly to Apollo who accept cash, AU$ traveller's cheques
(both forms require renter's passport to be presented and credit cards. Cheques are not accepted.
